Heads up, a Top Gear special is on tonight on BBC2 at 8.00pm.
Thanks for the warning
Wonder if Clarkson will cause as much offence as Dow Chemical's Olympic sponsorship ... would almost seem rude not to
When I set this to record via Sky + it asked me if I wanted to series link, does this mean that the new series starts this weekend too ?? Or is there another special on later ?
I'd this a repeat?
No, i am pretty sure its a new special.
It's a new special based in India.
Just means it will pick up the current repeats
i think it is the start of the news series they are out in india, if you g to the top gear website there is a sneak peek video of the episode.
Oh forgot about this. I had planned to watch Jon Snow on C4. Mrm I guess it's this and then C4+1.
The TG special is 90mins, so will probably have to record Jon Snow
Poor so far.
Love the repeats of top gear, but this is pretty average
I personally really enjoied tonight, unsure if it was a repeat I assumed not but either way I haven't seen it before!! No much about cars tbh but had me laughing alot!!
Well i enjoyed that....quite a few laugh out loud moments.
I thought Karun Chandhok was appearing in it. I definitely read it somewhere... but must have been about another programme.
Ive just finished watching Ice Road Truckers Deadliest Roads on ch.5, and was amused to see them in the same area, also Clarkson being hit by one of the same Tata wooden trucks.
Im waiting on the first post complaining that it was so obviously scripted.
didn't think it was too bad had a good laugh with the brake/horn on May's car.
Yes, a few lolo moments when they were driving around....which is what they do best.
Can't stand all that faffing around with the garden party, food delivery and train rubbish
+1 i thought it was pretty awful, think the format of the show is long done imo, and i normally enjoy it, seeing this after having seen top gear usa really puts our version to shame
I think the whole 'set-up' situations just was too obvious and the episode was drawn out too long. Some good moments, but not one of the better ones.
I enjoyed it, it made me laugh.
It was OK if you haven't seen any of the other specials.
The format's getting a little tired, though there were some amusing moments. The slogans on the trains was quite funny.
I still watched it.
load of rubbish, waste of 90 mins, probably their worst ever special imho and a shame considering the potential of an India TG special
- wasn't expecting anything like India on Four Wheels, but certainly not something less entertaining
WOW....do you really think Top Gear USA is better than ours?
Even though i will watch TG USA and enjoy parts of it, i think ours is a far superior show and the presenters work together so much better.
The new series of Top Gear is expected to start in January.
Yeh much better, ours feels so juvenile and i know its been said to death but the scripted thing like the signs on the train are so overdone. to the point where in this episode they had to incorporate saying things like im lying about the air conditioning being broken because theyve broken it a million times before and they'll break it again.
Plus i think the banter and comedy is far better in the US version, it feels a bit more geared at a slightly more adult audience, and all three of the characters are as big parts as each other in the US one whereas in the UK its the clarkson show with hammond and may attached, that said clarkson is the best of the three.
All that said maybe its just that ive seen far to much of the UK one because until not long ago I used to really enjoy it.
Yes agreed, I thought it was boring, predictable and I ended up fast forwarding through parts of it. How they keep getting away with crap like this is beyond me. I think the reason some people thought it might have been a repeat is because they've done all these stupid things half a dozen times before.
I enjoyed it
Kind of the problem is that we are used to them now.
With the earlier specials, you weren't sure if it was staged or not. You suspected it must be but it was close enough to possible that you could enjoy it. Now we have seen the same pranks time and time again, its no longer funny.
But all in all, still worth watching in my opinion.
Switched off about 1/3 way through. It's like watching Last of the Summer Wine these days.
The garden party bit was cringe worthy. Slogans on trains were hilarious. And having been to India plenty of times, the traffic is exactly like that.
Rather poor, I thought. Too much faffing about, and not enough car stuff. The only bits I thought were any good were the driving in the night bit and the drive through the Himalayas. The rest was fairly forgettable.
My enjoyment of Top Gear is tempered by the fact that you can never be sure which bit has been set up and scripted, and which is spontaneous and real. For example, the cans falling off Richard's Mini, the front of the Mini falling off, the banners on the train ripping at just the right place and James being left behind on the platform. All of those moments scream "scripted" to me. At times, I switched channels, as I was starting to cringe.
