I have PM'd you the RMA number and my name.

I can get you the invoice number when I am at home.

Thanks for offering to help, but I am a little skeptical that it will do any good as the returns department are already dealing with it.

I have asked them for credit rather than a replacement, and I just got an email from the returns manager saying the terms and conditions won't allow a refund.

Annoying as I am not asking for a refund. Even more annoying is that he has selectively quoted the terms and conditions!

I do not want a refund. I am happy to have credit at Scan. You sell a lot of stuff that I buy!

PM will not go as your inbox is full.

Can you clear a bit of space or PM me an email address?

    Please see earlier..

No - but a slightly reduced rate is available for None-mainland UK-ers if they contact the sales team.

No - just send a request to the link on the top of TodayOnly (as per my sig) .. and the TodayOnly team may add it on offer - if there's sufficient requests.

No as in it won't be extended to N Ireland (with higher minimum spend obviously) or no as in they're still thinking about it ?

Well, I have to say how impessed I am with Scans service. I ordered on Wednesday night and my stuff has all arrived this morning. I received 4 emails telling me how my order was progressing too.

    Top stuff.

Lets just hope their returns service is just as good should I ever need it.

    The level of frustration rises!

I eventually get a replacement motherboard, as I had had enough of banging my head against a brick wall.

The motherboard they sent was an older revision that has the same problems with overheating on the north bridge that caused the last one to fail. They say they appreciate why I would want one with the updates done by gigabyte but they cannot guarantee motherboard revisions despite it saying on the side of the box what revision it is. Tough luck in effect.

I buy another cpu from them to use with that motherboard. Unsurprisingly the sale of that went without a hitch.

The problem comes with installing the motherboard. It does not work. It will not work with the new cpu etc. nor will it work in my existing htpc where I swap the exact same motherboard out and put this new one in.

    I return it to them.

They say we got it to boot by reinstalling/updating the bios.

They then say as there was no fault you can have it back once you have paid a testing fee.

I say hang on you said you had to reinstall/update the bios to get it to work.

They say, conveniently, well we were not quite correct in what we said moments ago. We actually got it working without doing that but we updated it any way.

I say I don’t see why I should pay you that as you gave me a motherboard that did not work that you said you had to update/reinstall the bios to get to work.

    They say tough luck.

They then say its your job to check that not ours.

I say your website does not say do not buy unless you are willing to do x and y before using it.

    They say tough luck again.

Seems there are some common themes developing:

    1 We will take your money very efficiently;

2 In case you are worried about what happens if anything goes wrong then we have a very nice voluntary code we put on our website to reassure you; and

3 If anything really does go wrong then we will shift the goal posts constantly to suit us and will not follow that code.

    Buyer beware

    - great service in terms of sales
    - appalling service after sales

I asked to speak to a manager and was told they were not available after 4pm. When I said they can phone me tomorrow I was told that it did not need escalating.

Eventually they agreed to take my phone number.

    Let’s see what happens…..

At this stage all I want is a working motherboard to use with the extra cpu etc. I have now bought from them.

Although, given the history of this I’m tempted just to take it up with trading standards.

BrettD - The Returns Manager has left a voicemail message on the telephone number we have on your account. If you could possibly contact him, we can look into this further for you.

    Thank you.

Please contact our returns department via the usual number.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

You wont get free delivery until you have at least 20 posts I'm afraid.

    Cheers

If you can PM your real name and postcode - I can check into this for you.

how do you apply the free delivery on Scan? I have enough posts, and have been active here for years - but when registering at scan - and adding to basket - a delivery charge is still applied!?

Edit - was because item was still in basket before I used the link.

This just isn't working for me.

I used to get the free delivery, and tried clicking back through on the new link but it still comes up with a delivery charge every time. I phoned Scan and they told me there was a problem with the AVForums database not syncing correctly with theirs and I should just re-register!

I don't want to just re-register and spam the place with 20 useless posts to get the free delivery that I'm already entitled to... :(

Your account is set correctly to free carriage.

What are the part numbers you are trying to order?

Bah, looks like I get to test out the returns procedure after all.

Looks like my motherboard is nadged. Powers up but doesn't make POST.

I have emailed over a returns request.

    Cheers
