Thanks Dave - this looks great - how's the motion handling with TruMotion on? (test it out on EastEnders on BBC1HD please). And is the screen reflective? I do miss my returned 980T - how does this compare?

Hi Guys, I need to get 100% confirmation on the 'finish' of the screens, the top end LED's will still have SOME kind 'reflective' finish as it really improves the black level but I have been informed that they reflections have been GREATLY reduced on 2012 models. (I haven't seen them all in the flesh yet to 100% confirm)
Pricing will not be released for a few more weeks yet i'm afraid, there will be ballpark figures coming out of CES but as soon as we have official UK prices I will update the threads.

^ that's the pic I was on about with the two extra UD sets. Are they still just for comparison or is there a chance they could be released.

there was a nice comparison in the german magazine c't some months ago where they tried to confirm this, but it turned out there is no technical reason to make a display glare, only the assumption that people tend to be attracted by shiny things.

i'm still a bit angry that LG dropped last years LW7700, it was matte and had full led. it would have been the perfect tv for me.

knowing that the new models will be less glossy than the old ones is promising, but to be honest, the old ones were horrible in that regard, even some plasmas looked matte in comparison. if i use the LH9000 as the benchmark i fear it might be a no-go once more, but i'm willing to wait for the first reviews before i give up on LG ;)

i wholeheartedly hate the guys who decided to take the best panels in the market and hide them behind a piece of glass though... imo a company of that size and market share could offer at least one matte model. i'd be willing to pay extra for that.

I agree - a matte screen is a number one priority for me. Plus perfectly smooth motion whatever the source/resolution.

Completely agree, the 980T was very reflective, I eventually returned it for a plasma which is much less reflective, lets hope they have improved this as well as the other problems

Dave, do you know exactly when the prices will be released? Are we talking early-mid February or later? I can't wait to get my hands on one of these. I just hope the 47 inch isn't over 2000 :lease:

Same :( i've been wanting to buy a TV for about 7 months now and I was set on a 980t but I was waiting to see if it came down in the January sales. Hardly anywhere is selling it anyway plus this TV looks sooo much better to me. Just hope the haloing issues on 980t don't reappear. I'll be down to Currys the day they're out

There does not seem to be as much excitement about this tv as there was with the LW980T!
    Where are all the posts?!

After the tremendous excitement of the all new Nanoled technology with the alleged 280 local dimming zones and then the disappointment of the majority when we discovered the reduced number of them (resulting in halo and banding) plus that it was an expensive mirror to put in your living room, the expectations have been moderated of this new model as it seems to offer more or less the same as the LW980T.

I bet that if LG UK verifies (for real this time) that the local dimming zones would be 280 or more for a 55", there will be much excitement once again .

Ill agree with that. I really want this TV to be great, but if its a let down im already thinking about alternatives ie, the new Samsung ES8000. Just hope its as good as it looks (the LG I mean). Cant wait to get some proper info. Come on LG tell us what we need to know.

I'm looking for a new tv this year.
Which makes and models should I keep an eye out for which will have backlit LEDs, which I can follow on AVforums?

I would really love to see the 55LM960V having 4K therefore real full HD 3D as I am very prone to the vertical lines of passive 3D. I only hope in a miracle but maybe the Korean developers would wake up and see that this is feasible and a must with passive 3D. Don't mind me I am just dreaming of my future TV.

Hi Guys, sorry for the quietness, since CES we've had a lot to sort out before we can make things official, we're working on a roadmap that includes ESTIMATED prices of the 2012 range and hope to have it to you by tomorrow!! i'll also be adding more official threads for (future!?) owners for the whole range over the next few days but all the info will be on the spreadsheet tomorrow anyway. :smashin:
don't forget to have a look at our UK CES page too.

YAY. This will be my next tv. I'm expecting it to be similar in price to the launch price of the lw980t. Fingersc crossed it'll be slightly cheaper lol. We'll see tomorrow :D

Hi, this IS the UK version, the model numbers are slightly different across the globe but the first two letters and number will always denote what series the TV is part of. for more info on this and other TV's in the range I have now provided the link to the rest of the range in this thread
    http://www.avforums.com/forums/lg-forum/1582121-official-lg-uk-2012-tv-range.html
Love to get your thoughts about the whole range over there? :smashin:

Very Disapointed also by the lack of prices, even a very rough ballpark figure would be nice so those of us who have already bought your 2011 tv's which have been written off know roughly how much extra we need to save to get a new display come april time!

Very disappointed that there is also no 60" LM860 or LM960! 55" is way too small for 3D.
