I don't know if this is any good or not but i'm a sucker for a zombie film and this has just dropped to £3.95 at The Hut (previous best was £5.99 on Play's daily deal last week, or £6.99 usually)

Thanks, for 4 quid it's worth a watch - if it's no good I'll sell it and get most of the money back anyway. :smashin:

i liked this part of the review:

The Dead proves to be one of the most vicious and unapologetically violent Zombie movies of all time, occasionally even giving Romero's Day of the Dead a run for its money.

    :D

Ah, i thought it was the 1987 release, as the hut listed it as 1987 also.

The film's not a bad addition to the zombie genre and being set in Africa gives it a different slant, plus you can read Romero style social subtext relating to the country's genocide and civil war if you so wish.

It's well worth a few quid, but be prepared for a very low budget that betrays it's cost in it's production values. PQ is watchable, not great and I found the soundmix a bit boomy.

I think this is an excellent and quite unique zombie movie that is in part a road movie too. I've seen it twice and it's one of my favourite zombie movies (and believe me I've seen a lot of zombie movies, I'm old enough to have seen George Romero's Dawn of the Dead when it was first out!). The African landscape is a fabulous backdrop and is lovingly photographed though almost every scene is punctuated with the swaying, shambling dead. The spiritual odyssey nature of the plot isn't overplayed but adds a subtext to round off the story line neatly.
