Quinn in the end... just needed to set his tactics to sit back and only heal, and he also did the odd sneaky freeze when doing that.

Once I got that right, and got the timing for the interrupts, it was easy and I killed him without taking hardly any damage at all.

He did have an instant kill move though with a 25 second cooldown!... but you get a long charging up bar to warn you that you HAVE to interrupt... or you just die.

Nice. Once you work out the mechanics of the fights in this game, really tough challenges can turn out to be really easy when you work out what tactics to use.

Regarding interupts though, this is something that too few people do, and it will probably be vital for upcoming boss encounters, no doubt interupts on a rotation too (due to cooldowns).

Well, I'll be doing dailies on Ilum and Belsavis this evening, I think you only have a few quests to complete now for you to be at the same point as everyone else. :smashin:

I always usually do that interrupt when I see the blue bars activating, but I find sometimes it gets obscured.

One thing I found helped a lot in the end was to turn off my damn name floating above me. Not sure what it's going to be like when there's a few of us swarmed around.

Sometimes I find it hard to see the bosses' health and activation bars.... so maybe I need to do some further UI tweaking.

    Tempted to try this.

How easy is it to play solo?

Also, what's the shortest trial available?

    Ta ;)

You can solo most of it if you want to, but half the fun is teaming up with others.

Don't think there's a trial available, but you get 30 days free when you buy the game.

    Cheers ;)

Yeah I appreciate that these games are best played with others but it's good to know when they can be solo'd too, for the odd time when the misanthropy kicks in :D

Shame there's no trial, I would liked to have tried it before committing to a purchase.

There is 30 days included with the game but you have to also start a sub or redeem a time card before you can use you 30 free days. You can always buy the game start a sub but cancel it before your 30 free days finish.

£35 is a lot to decide if I like it or not though. I'll see if anyone I know is playing it so I can go round and give it a whirl. Failing that I might just dig out KoTOR II

From my experiences it play like the spawn of Guild Wars and Mass effect.

I said guild wars as i've not play WOW.

I'm talking about the rpg style of Mass effect not the action part, in the way the mass effect followed the same formula used in Kotor.

It's very similar to Dragon Age Origins in game play and story style (the first one - PC version, so that means AWESOME).

It's basically the latest incarnation of the engine used for Neverwinter Nights.

Guild Wars & Guild Wars Factions are actually the only MMOs I have ever played. Really liked them actually, but did 90% of them solo. I love the ME series too, can't wait for 3 next month (N7 Edition already pre-ordered)! In that case maybe I will grab a copy of SWToR.

Again, this is good to know as I liked both those games.

Cheers guys.... getting more and more tempted :)

I have played quite a few different MMO's and none has as strong a storyline as The Old Republic. In all fairness when playing through the story, I've forgotten that it is a MMORPG sometimes such is the quality and narrative of the storyline and quality of the in-game cutscenes.

Every aspect of the storyline can be completed solo all the way up to level 50 (the current max level), and it is only at this point after you have completed the main aim of the key storyline that it will ask you to group up with others for one of the Flashpoints, which is similar to the group instances from other MMO's.

Plus it's 'Star Wars', so you get all the music and sounds and lore that feature in the films. :smashin:

I followed every setting on nvidia inspector then disabled AA in game and SWTOR was running at about 19/20 fps. I'm not convinced the game looked much better either?

Think he was meaning his second post on the forum mate.

As for character details no hurry, still about another 30 names to come in yet. Assuming they're still interested in the guild that is...

I have cancelled my subscription. There is a lot to admire about the game but it is just not doing it for me. Perhaps it is that I have done MMOs. Good luck to you guys in the guild. I hope you get something going soon.

honestly at EV, if you don't have enough just Pug the rest, the encounters tbph aren't much harder then Mount Hyjal in TBC, but the trash can be un forgiven in places :D hope you can fly ;)
