Damn that must be annoying, I don't play many games on the PC just BF3 and now STO and have v-sync enabled on both and have never noticed anything.

If you decide you want to change points as F2P you have to pay real money, you dont get respec tokens on F2P

Certain variations of ship are only available from the C-Store which will cost Cryptic points but as you get Promoted you will be given a ship token which allows you to choose a new ship, you need to get a specific rank before you can get a certain class of ship though (ie Commander can't have a Galaxy Class only Captain or above)

As for ship upgrades you can get them from the Dilithuim store in game or from the exchange, neither methods costs real money.

Made Rank 40 this afternoon and now have my very own Sovereign class ship which I have named U.S.S. Victory

For about 20 minutes though my ship was glowing green which I couldn't change but eventually I realised my Reman Shield Array was the problem and by disabling the shield effect everything went back to normal and after upgrading the phaser arrays and quantum torpedoes my Energy Points have gone from 230,000 to just 18,000 lol

alright mate, thats cleared things up a little lol

as for the upgrades using dilithium and exchange, how do you find the dilithium? and i suppose for the exchange you obviously need some things to exchange

The Yellow Stone class "USS Yokohama"

(got this for the 2800 DS9 mission into the gamma quadrant)

You get Dilithuim as a reward from certain missions and Crew assignments.

As for the exchange you can access it from starbases and trading vessels, it's a great place to off load your unwanted kit and spend your energy points.

You dont have to spend any money if you are willing to put in the time and do the grind.

You can get dilithium from crew assignments, then exchange dilithium for C points which you use to buy stuff in the C store. BUT it will take a looong time and a lot of dilithium.

And I would rather use it for new weapons and shields.

Underneath the minimap are a number of icons, I believe the 3rd one along opens up the crew tab and in there you can set sector based and ship based assignments.

Yeah it's hard to find but it's there. Very complicated too! Recently I started getting rare and very rare crew members.

If you assign them to your ship they can boost your game stats. Eg, a tactical crew member can reduce the time it takes to reload phasers and torpedoes.

Very usefull even if the whole crew thing is bloated and complicated.

I completed the 2800 missions last night.

Thing is, If I keep replaying it do I get the bonus for the last mission? I fancy having the set.

It's very quick to level up a couple of ranks so you won't be stuck with a basic ship for too long

I'm also replaying 2800 to get the full jemhadar set!

Made admiral the other day and got a sovereign class ship even though my characters tac and not engineer :D

Can't say no to a sovy! It is a tactical cruiser after all.

Leveling up is so easy in this game, they really should do something about it.

Would be nice if it took longer so we could enjoy the class we are at a little longer.

After all, it does take time to grind all the best items (purple) at each level. And if we level up too quick it makes it pointless.

Play Klingon, sooooooooooooooooooooooo slow compared to federation.

40-50 The BEST way to level up is the KDF Mirror Event. Can get at least 3 levels out of 1 hour, if not 4.

Started a klingon character but want to finish my fed guy first.

They just announced that they are releasing 3 variants of the Odyssey cruiser and the Klingon Bortas warship!

Havent even had a chance to use my anniversary odyssey yet!!

Each variant will be geared towards each class. Tactical, Engineer, science.

Tac version has a detachable fighter that follows you and attacks enemies.

Engineer does saucer sep, and science has worker bees that repair you and nearby friendlies.

    Or something like that...

2000 C points per ship, or 4000 for 3 variants in one go!

Gotta have the tac oddy!! :D

Surely they must be raking it in by now? (team fortress hats anyone? :rotfl:)

So people whats been hapening with u and ur ships or crew in this?

Been playing this like mad over last couple weeks, getting more knowledge on how thigns work aswell but still very confused about a lot, will ask questions about this when time is right lol

Currently a commander with a nova class escort - and loving it. damn is this a tough little ship lol, (well we all know what the toughest is lol), think ive kitted it out nicely . But cant wait for the next upgrade gonna be so confused on what to get, either the galaxy or defiant.

Got a jem'hadar tactical crewman aswell , with 2 female trills and a andorain as a eng.

1 question, when can you get more bridge officers? is it ship dependent or something?

This game is eating all my time!!!'

I've got a copy of Mass Effect 3 sitting on my desk, still wrapped lol

Almost at lvl 50, dying to use the oddyssey I have. Thinking of getting a tactical odyssey from the C store.

Currently using my sovereign class. It really kicks ass! Spending a lot of time doing PvP and actually wining now that I know how to kit out my ship.

Also playing a lot of STFs to get the MACO & Omega kits.

Even at level 50 there's so much to do..

A lot of grinding to get mark X or XI items. And those impossible to get XII purple items!

I have some nicely kitted ships now. A defiant with purple mark XI weapons and shelds.

And my sovereign the same. Got all the rare shields (Reman, Paratrinic and so on)

Working on getting the Borg stuff too.

Really important to learn how to properly kit your ship out to win in PvP and to do well in STFs.

    Ask away! :)

All that hard work just so i could open up that anniversary Odyssey. :rotfl:

It was totally worth it. Loving this game so much. :)

Just got promoted to captain people, but now stuck for ships lol

Exploration- read about the appaling turn rate but still its the galaxy class lol, at the mo this is the last choice dont know why. looks old and dated aswell

Tactical Escort - At the mo this is my 1st choice mainly because i love the 'tough little ship' lol, love the defiant class, shape firepower everything but this one doesnt have the quad cannons does it??, would that only be the re-fit which i have to buy?

Exploration - After reading a lot about science vessels and this being cap janeways ship this is at the mo joint fav with the defiant class, mainly because people have said as a tactical man with this is unbeatable (within reason) the stuff the science ships can do. only problem is ive got 2 tac officers so will need to get rid of 1 and get another lol

help lol, decision decisions. wish i could get both lol (for free of course)

Go for the Defiant, it's still my number one ship even though I have a Sovereign.

    Second the Defiant choice.

with 3 sets of Dual Heavy Canons and a quantum torp up front, she will decimate Borg cubes! :smashin:

The quad canons you get with the C store Sao Paolo aren't all that useful later in the game. ( i don't use them anymore)

I'm going to retrofit my Defiant so i can use her again in STFs.

Right now, still using the Odyssey. That thing is a bloody tank! nothing gets past her shields with the right BOF's

Well finally downloaded ,Got a human on the engineering track, but before I really start wanted a heads up, re some form of idiots guide? Really can't find much about how to play. Really looking for a basic FAQ which helps aviod any common pitfalls

Also can't post on the STO forum, states I need to register, but I've recreated an account ?

Any ideas on a first ship and what to do next?

Also does it matter whether you log in via Perfect world or Cryptic ? (are they different servers? )

In order to post on forums you have to pay real money for cryptic points, although the game is free to play the forums are not free to post.

Regarding basic faq I dont believe there is a general faq but I have found the community to be extremely helpful in any questions you may ask.

Here is a site that posts some builds where you can select what career path you take and what ship you want to have.

    These are comminity builds.

STO wiki has a lot of good info for the game. I use it nearly every day.

Weird that about the STO forums! I post there from time to time, didn't realize you had to buy C points just to post!

Theres a lot of good info in there too. You don't need to pay to just read. ;)

Since your an engineer, i recommend you stick with cruisers since they are geared towards engineer characters.

Tactical characters should stick with escorts, and science with well, science ships...

I love the escorts, but i think overall i prefer cruisers. Sovereign and Odyssey are amazing ships.

Hope they do a retrofit Akira class some day! Would be nice to have a balanced beam/canon ship.

Cruisers tend to end up as Beam boats since they have a bad turn rate.

Pic of the day from AML :D

    And 2 more for fun!

Really makes me wish for the day space travel becomes a reality!

Either purchase C-Store Points or the game itself, Forums are not available for Free to Play people which is pretty ******* stupid.
