No news yet, JJ Abrams has just talked about story outlines but given nothing away! We'll probably start to here rumblings more towards the end of the year.

This film aint really worthy of a sequel, the first one was okay but nothing special. I expected much more based on the reviews and this whole "cult" thing with Star Trek. Just couldn't get into it, I like the Star Wars film and fought this would be the same.

6.8/10 from me, although a good performance from the whole cast just expected better.

And completely disagree here. Thus needs a sequel to continue the great stories that are out there. Really enjoyed the first installment of the reboot.

it was nothing like the original trek which, in my opinion, is FAR better than this movie which got it all wrong....

Zoe Saldana on what's next - Star Trek or Avatar sequel...

MTV spoke to the actress at WonderCon over the weekend, and he asked which we're likely to see first: "Star Trek 2" or "Avatar 2."

Trek 2 going into production this autumn, with filming early 2011 possibly.

I really didnt like the new Star Trek, short of the character names I dont feel like it had much to do with the Original.

Felt too much like a teen movie.

Also when do the temporal police turn up to undo this new rubbish timeline and put things back the way they should be?

I cant believe they killed off all the old spin offs to bring in this new High School musical bunch.

They could have at least made one final TNG/DS9/Voyager and even TITAN cross over movie.

My problem with the remake was the Spock storyline. It didnt feel right to me, like it was clumsily tacked on to keep the fans happy.

Isn't that the point though? To give them a whole clean slate to do whatever they want, without everyone jumping around saying stuff like "X" wouldn't have done this because in season 1, episode 7, "Y" did that, so it's impossible.

I'm a massive Trek fan, right from TOS (old enough to have seen it when it first came out) and loved the new movie (apart from Simon Pegg), have no problem with the timeline thing now. Wasn't so sure on first viewing, but fine with it now.

The problem I had was with the story which I thought was weak and also the set for 'the Bridge', too much glass, transparent surfaces and too white.

Reading interviews with Pegg (who, like so many Brits, seems to be enjoying his five minutes in the sun while Hollywood lap at his feet - call it the "Gervais syndrome") it seems his decision to appear in the film had more to do with his dislike of the new Star Wars films than anything else. A certified fanboy, he spat out his dummy over Jar Jar and midichlorians and has been pretending to be a Trekkie ever since.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the new movie. I can't bloomin' stand Star Trek and for once here was a Trek film that I actually enjoyed. I'd be happy to see a sequel.

I have watched the remake about 5 times. Never really been into Star Trek as such but watched it when it was on late night Sky One a lot but in no order. But I love the remake, visuals, audio and humour. There are a couple of little slow parts (didn't like the snow planet sequence) but I thought it was so easy to watch and enjoyable.

    Bring on the sequel.

i would hope the people who were not into Star Trek but really like the new movie would take interest in the tv franchise, they were fantastic. So you like the new movie because it's polished with start of the art effects and cool characters? but i thought most people hated remakes :D If you want characters and great stories watch the tv series, TOS, The Next Generation, and others :)

If the same actors come back (bar Pegg who was really miscast as Scotty) I would welcome a sequel. The crucial Kirk/Spock/McCoy relationship was well handled and each actor really put in a superb performance in channeling the original actor. The only thing I would change as well as Pegg would be the engineering room - very poorly realised - looked like some bits of a brewery or something rather than an engineering section. Just an update on the original films or STNG would be fine. Lets get rid of the pipes. But a fantastic film - as well handled a reboot as Casino Royale was for James Bond.

I liked the new film because it was nothing like the tv series or the films that came before it. Deep Space 9, The Next Generation, Enterprise, seen them all and thought them as dull as ditchwater. If the sequel to the new film continues the trend of being nothing like the existing films and tv series, then I'll happily watch it.

Love the first movie, but I felt Simon Pegg, as much as I like him and (some) of his movies, he felt really out of place in the movie, as if he paid someone to get the role, I'm sure there couldv'e been a Scottish actor or 5 who could have did the job better. I'm not saying the original scotty was any better though. 'Aloominum'

Well loads of people wanted the original doctor from Stargate Atlantis, Paul McGillon. Mainly because he actually is Scottish and Glaswegian.

Maybe they could have got another Canadian ;)

Simon Pegg and his comic-relief mate were the only things wrong with it (I've no problem with SP in general, but he just wasn't Scotty for me).

Maybe at the beginning of the next movie, he can have an unfortunate transporter accident (along with his alien mate) and come out as a completely differnt, but more Scotty-like, Scotty:rotfl:

That was a general problem with me in that Bones was the only one that worked for me. After Urban the least poor was Pegg.

Yeah what was that all about? That set made the original series engenering room look futuristic and that was the late 60's!
The bridge was all shiny glass and chrome but the engine room looked like Beckton gas works. Bizzare!

It was the Californian Budweiser Beer factory that they filmed in. They wanted that look (covered in the extras). They also used Budweiser in product placement.

As it was also a prequel/alternate universe it won't look like TOS.

I had no problems with any of the cast. I thought they did their roles fine with McCoy and Spock being the best.

I didn't have a problem with the cast either. I think the criticism levelled at Simon Pegg is unfair as he really didn't have a lot to do. The story concentrated on Bones, Kirk and Spock as usual.

can you hear me scream in girlish/geek excitement?
Heard the critisisms but I thought it was actually really good. I went into the film with reservations but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Cant wait for the sequal now!
