    I wonder if it has 2-player co-op?!

    Wow, how did i miss this? Really couldn't look more like Mass Effect if it tried, i guess Mass Effect owes a hell of a lot to Star Trek in the first place so if anyone can do a copy and paste its Star Trek.

    It looks good but my main concern is how it plays, Mass Effect has set a high bar but if they do this right it could do well.

    apparently it's got a lot of co-op involved Covert. from the reports they had 2 stands at e3. one showing the spock side, one showing the kirk side with players controlling each player etc.

    sounds quite promising.

    Nothing great ever comes from copying someone else. it might be an ok game, even good, but it'll never be great. My only hope is if they do copy Mass Effect, we get all the Fox News lesbian alien sex shockers :smashin: Can i play as Dianna Troy and have a lesbian orgy with Seven of 9, T-Pol and Beverly Crusher please (using time-travel warp holes to ensure everyone is still young and hot): cheers developers :thumbsup:

    The Copy and the Original

    Star Wars Battlefront = Battlefield

    Uncharted = Tomb Raider

    Frontlines = Battlefield

    Red Faction = Doom

    The Darkness & Bioshock = Wolfenstein

    Given more time I could write an extensive list of at least decent work that stemmed from great originals.

    Even Mass Effect was clearly taking its infrastructure from Elite, ideas from Star Trek and visuals from sci-fi artists of the 70's-80's.

    it could be perfect for start trek this style of gameplay.

    I enjoyed Voyager Elitte Forces and DS9 the fallen but even then not as much as I enjoyed TNG final unity or the wonderful interplay point and click games based on the original series. Wonderfuly written and captured the feel of the series so well.

    This, if done well, could be anice return to the feel of how star trek should be

    Some are not exactly contemporary copies. I think a span of more than a few years in games dev hardly counts. Much like i wouldnt count a Pagani Zonda a copy of a Ford Model T, both cars yes, but after that...

    I meant more that a game comes out, then the "me too" copies get made as a direct result.

    My point is that there's very little that's original anymore. It all depends on how much talent the 'copier' plus how much time and resources the studio has for the 'copy' to be of high quality or not.

    Let's be thankful that this game isn't being developed to tie in with a movie release date.

    It's no coincidence that Bioware has both Mass Effect and Knights of the Old Republic in its back catalogue....

    I have no idea what the score is with the SW rights but another Bioware game in the KOTOR series would be something to look forward to!

    In the meantime, this sounds promising. For such a major SF franchise, there has never been a really good Trek game....

    Perhaps that's the Bioware game plan.

    "Look what we can do with an original intellectual property. How about letting us loose on SW and doing similar good things?"

    I'd forgotten about KOTOR. Like many people, it never felt all that 'Star Warsy' to me and I want an RPG game set during the rise and fall of the Empire.

    If it plays like Mass Effect with a Star Trek skin I will be all over it. I love Mass effect and who doesn't like a bit of Stark Trek? :D

    Namco will be co-publishing and distributing the title in cahoots with Paramount Digital Entertainment in Q1 2013 - just before the expected May 2013 release of the next Star Trek movie.

    Is this not out today in the US ?
    I hope the review embargo is to prevent spoilers rather than down to quality of the game

    Review embargo usually equals crap game !!

    Fingers crossed that's not the case as the previews look pretty decent.

    Review Embargo? I read a very positive review in 360gamer. They were raving about it! Time will tell!
