Searching it seems that the BX57 is a 570 sold in certain shops (Costco?) so it should have the same handset hack as all other Sony players in recent years. You will need a one-for-all universal remote which has a "magic" button, (which allow you to program the keys.) Then follow the instructions here. Ignore the comment that it doesn't work - I've just done it to my 570 successfully.

Note that there will be no indication at all that your player is receiving any signal neither will the universal remote operate the player using the code 0553 - that just for the hack - so don't worry if it seems nowts happening, (it's caught people out.)

If you don't want to buy a suitable one-for-all remote you could take advantage of Argos' 30 day return policy but give something to charity to balance your karma :)

I believe Costco bundles the 570 with a HDMI cable in the US and so it becomes a BX 57 .:)

Btw how much did it cost and did you pay duties + charges? What size step down transformer are you using?

Ah - not sure I can help. From what I've seen the one-for-all hack doesn't work with US players.

    Have you tried AVSForums?

I just bought this same player in the US from Costco. Has anyone been able to make it region-free?
