John - Great shot there, looks so crisp! Seems like the SGS2 is a solid shooter!

Raj - Amazing mate! I love how well exposed and balanced they are for snow shots.

FoB - Some lovely macros there. Again, I'm very impressed with the iPhone's camera performance.

Severe - A nice collection, I really like the processing and frames. Is that Hipstamatic you've used?

Using the Olloclip lens accessory. It's got wide angle and macro (10x mag) lenses on one side, and a fisheye lens on the other. It just clips onto the corner of the iPhone 4/4S. Not cheap at £60 but well worth the money IMO.

Wow, people actually buy those things. I thought they were just a gimic.
How do you rate it? Your photos look good. What made you buy it? Do you have a DSLR or anything else with macro capabilities?

Sorry for all the questions. :)

I must say I didn't really consider any of the lens accessories for iPhone until I saw the Olloclip and what it was capable of. The other options do seem like a bit of a gimmick, but for whatever reason, the Olloclip has become quite a hit and from the reviews I've read and results I'd seen online, I decided I would order one.

I'm really happy with it, it's definitely not just a gimmick, the wideangle and fisheye do have barrel distortion (serious in the case of the fisheye) but it's still usable and the results are great! I'd say the macro lens is really the best quality of the three and is the one I use most (and my main reason for buying the olloclip).

I don't currently have a DSLR - I sold my D3100 a few weeks back, as nice as it was, I just wasn't using it as much as I'd like, and it was a hassle to have to physically take it out with me in it's own separate bag etc. I miss the photos I got from it with the 35mm 1.8G lens I had on it, but I now have an iPhone 4S which is always in my pocket, so it counteracts the photo quality with always being in my pocket and allowing me to never miss a photo opportunity! I'm still looking into other options for replacing my DSLR with a more 'serious' camera sometime soon, possibly a M4/3 camera or Sony NEX, but for now I have my iPhone 4S and Panasonic TZ8.

Suddenly had a thought today about using the iPhone's digital zoom, in addition to the olloclip macro lens! I never use the zoom in normal iPhone pics because I don't like the degradation in quality, but with macro it gets me even closer and is quite usable! I'll attach three photos below, to show you the test results on a macro shot I took earlier:

This was taken with just the Olloclip attachment on the iPhone:

This is with the digital zoom half-way:

And this is with the digital zoom on full:

Let me know if you get bored of all these macro shots guys, just really testing the lens capabilities and iPhone 4S camera at the moment really! I will try do something a bit more artistic soon lol!

These are more or less straight out of the iPhone and uploaded to Flickr.. Most are cropped to 3:2 because I prefer the aspect ratio, and some have some very light sharpening on them, done in an iPhone photo app.

    That is impressive.
I totally sympathise with you about carrying the camera around. I rarely take mine with me, but always have my phone, so most of my shots are on the iPhone anyway. Tempted by this lens, but doubt it will always be in my pocket, and if I am purposely shooting macro, I will take my DSLR anyway. Hmm. Maybe a birthday present idea. :)

Some more from me, making the most of the sunshine and an afternoon off work! :smashin:

Unfortunately an app I used for the first time (ACDSee Camera Flash) to brighten up some of the shots, has exported the photos at a lower resolution, so they don't look so good - I'll have to investigate this issue and hope I can resolve it/it will be sorted an app update in the near future.

For anyone interested in the Olloclip lens for iPhone 4/4S, here is a quick example of the wideangle and fisheye lenses (I've only been using the macro one so far!)

iPhone straight shot from built-in lens:
iPhone landscape test shot by FotoPhace82, on Flickr

    iPhone with Olloclip wideangle:
iPhone landscape test shot (with olloclip wideangle) by FotoPhace82, on Flickr

    Olloclip fisheye:
iPhone landscape test shot (with olloclip fisheye) by FotoPhace82, on Flickr

Obviously the distortion is quite severe, although in video mode it's much less noticeable, due to the different focal length. I like the wideangle lens, it gives the iPhone that much needed wider field of view, and this in addition to the great macro lens, means I have everything I need (except telephoto!) on my iPhone 4S camera! :smashin:

FOB - I am seriously looking at getting that Olloclip now. It's a great bit of kit for when I don't have the DSLR with me!

Salparadise - great set. I like the processing. That is one of the things I love about smartphone photography, you have access to some many PP options at your fingertips!

    Great work guys.

Tonkie - I also thought that dogs head was mounted! Haha! :)

Go for it mate, it's great fun and very useful to carry around in its little pouch along with your iPhone. Here's a quick snap with the wideangle lens after a little edit in snapseed:

Does anyone know of an app to correct barrel distortion?!

Yeah, that's the problem with the wideangle/fisheye lenses, but I only really use the macro anyway! With video there's much less distortion :) and I guess with landscapes etc it would be much less noticeable anyway. Having a tall building on the edge of the shot is a worst case scenario lol.

Tried the app, thanks. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be able to correct it, had a play but it was not possible to get it quite right, more hassle that it's worth I think lol, might be a useful app for future use though! :)

A quick night shot form my iPhone 4S - saw how moody and foggy it looked outside and snapped this quickly, it's had some editing but is very noisy, due to it being very dark outside!! It looked a bit better on my phone, but is too bright when uploaded to the PC..
