    OK, good job I don't always rely on my memory! :rolleyes:

    What do we think to this joker then?

    TeVii S470 DVB-S2 HDTV PCIe Diseqc 1.2/2.0 Low profile - DVBSHOP - Technotrend,Mystique,Anysee,Digital Devices,Tevii,Shop

    Tick all the boxes for me. PCI-E, low profile and short, no external power needed. How do I work out if it has BDA drivers? I can't find anywhere that confirms it is Windows Media Center compatible although the dual tuner S480 is;

    http://www.tevii.com/Specification/S480_Specification.pdf

    Edit; found this in the support page, looks OK then;

    I found them selling it on ebay in sterling with free delivery which seemed simpler to order. Also ordered an omnikey 3121 from ebay for 9 squids delivered so I will be messing with this (and probably extracting some hair!) over crimbo. :thumbsup:

    Same reason BBCi and other interactive channels have no EPG ;)

    Been quite a while since I had a sky box but you don't tune directly to these channels do you? Presumably they do appear on the sky guide with EPG then?

    Box office, yes they appear in the guide and always have done, with the program information in them showing everything a normal film channel would, only diference is that it says you need to ring up (if you don't have a phone line connected). I guess, thinking about it, the same can be done for the PPV porn channels should that float your boat.

    Your possibly getting confused with Anytime which is actually recorded to the local disk which you then access "anytime". Anytime isn't PPV either but is an older film selection, usualy a week or two before it comes on to the normal film channels (not box office). I've not messed around with Anytime+ but I guess you would have to resort to the Sky Player web app (or front end if Media Player has one).

    For the interactive channels I can just map the same channel data to them as the "main" channel so I can then program a recording.

    edit: the Anytime channels are also "normal" channels but have no EPG data that I know of although, I've not bothered looking into it either as I'm not bothered by it.

    Well, I did a system upgrade from WinXP to Windows 7 a few days ago, and I can confirm, that my instructions are indeed..... wrong.

    I wrote them from memory and got ACamd and MDAPI mixed up.

    I will copy and past the instructions into this thread with the corrections.

    Here is my guide for OSCAM with MediaPortal:

    Warning 1 - Using a Sky card in this way is against Sky terms and conditions and I neither use this personally, or condone it. I only provide this guidance for research purposes for use with providers who permit this usage.

    Warning 2 - MediaPortal do not support ACamd and any threads on their forums will be closed immediately (see Warning 1).

    Warning 3 - Use this guide at your own risk.

    Thanks to Jameson_UK and Jobyrne30 for their posts/PM which were used to create this guide.

    1.Plug the Omnikey Card Reader (or Smartgo reader) USB plug in to one of the USB ports on the back of your HTPC. If you are running Windows 7, then it is best to install these drivers over the top of the windows drivers HID Global (just download the unattended setup installer and run it) - doing this will stop windows then detecting the actual smartcard as a device in its own right and will make it much easier to get a reliable system

    2.Place the downloaded OSCAM files (OSCAM 1.10rc-svn build #5876 works with Windows 7) into C:\oscam

    3. SMARTGO: If you are using a Smargo smartreader + rename the file oscam.server_smargo to oscam.server edit and using WordPad or notepad edit the file to suit your needs

    OMNIKEY: If you are using an Omnikey 3121 reader rename the file oscam.server_omnikey to oscam.server and using WordPad or notepad edit the file to suit your needs

    (note: I have only tested the omnikey reader with this instruction).

    4. You will need to edit the following 3 files (using notepad) and past the text from below into each of them (replace any similar text inside the existing files):

    oscam.conf:
    Code:
    [global]
    logfile                       = /dev/tty

    blockemm-g                    = 0
    lb_weight                     = 100
    All other files remain unchanged and you do not need to enter your box ID with this later version of OSCAM.

    5. Run the OSCAM.exe (a command window will open), then using your web browser, navigate to AVForums.com - UK Online (or replace "localhost" with the IP of the OSCAM PC if you are using a different PC to access the webservice). (Username "ADMIN" Password "ADMIN"). You should see roughly the same information as is shown in the command window in the webservice status page.

    6. Click on "Readers". Give your card reader a name (any will do), then select PCSC Protocol, then click Add (don't bother with this if a PCSC protocol is already in the list of readers).

    7. Insert the Viewing Card into the Card Reader. The command window (and the webservice status page if you press F5) will then list your entitlements (if not, try restarting OSCAM).

    8. Download MDAPI (MDAPI 2008 for Mediaportal - Techwatch Support Forums: Digital & Satellite TV, FTA, Cable, Computers, Mobile Phones, Apple and General Tech Forums) and copy the contents to c:\MDAPI_setup.

    9. Open up a dos command window in Administrator mode (right click on cmd icon in start menu and select the option to run it as administrator. Within the command prompt, navigate to the MDAPI_setup directory they run installfilter.cmd. This will install and configure the MDAPI files on your machine.

    (note: if you use explorer to monitor the contents of “C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\TV Server\” while this installation is running, you should see a couple of new files appear, as well as a new directory call MDPlugin. These files appearing indicate the configuration has worked successfully). If you are having problems running the installation, then this thread will help you: http://www.avforums.com/forums/home-entertainment-pcs/1562788-mediaportal-mdapi-problem.html

    10. When the installation is complete. Run the MP TV Server Config program.

    11. Navigate to your TV Server and click on it (shown below), then select each of your DVB-S and DVB-S2 tuners in turn and enable CAM for these devices (highlight the tuner then select Edit). Leave CAM limit set at 0).

    [IMG]

    12. Navigate to the “Manual Control” menu option, and one at a time highlight each of your DVB-T, DVB-S, DVB-S2 TV tuners in turn, then click on “Start Timeshift”, followed by “Stop Timeshift” (you should do it for DVB-T tuners even though theses won't actually use the card). (note: you should tune to any FTA channel, NOT an encrypted channel).

    [IMG]

    13. Click OK to close the TV Server Config.

    14. Now navigate to the “C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\TV Server \MDPlugin\” directory.

    15. Right click on the MDAPICards.xml file and select “open with” then select “Notepad”. This file should list each of your DVB tuners in it. Make sure that for each of the DVB-S/S2 tuners, enableMdapi=1, and for each of the DVB-T tuners, enableMdapi=0. Save the file and quit notepad.

    16. Within the “C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\TV Server\MDPlugin\” directory, there should be a number of sub-directories (one for each of your tuners listed within the MDAPICards.xml file you just edited. In to each of these directories you need to copy both Acamd.dll and cardclient.conf (which can be download from here: Forum Gateway - Sat Universe) (pick the latest version). The remaining files from this download which are not put into the tuner sub-directories can be placed in the MDPlugin directory.

    17. Once each of the C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\TV Server \MDPlugin\” sub-directories have got Acamd.dll and cardclient.conf within them, you need to edit each of the cardclient.conf files in-turn (with notepad), giving each of the files relating to each of the tuners a unique username (USER1, or USER2).

    eg. card1 should contain the text:

    newcamd:127.0.0.1:15008:1:USER1:USER1:010203040506 0708091011121314,

    Card2 should contain the text:

    newcamd:127.0.0.1:15008:1:USER2:USER2:010203040506 0708091011121314

    18. Now open MediaPortal TV Server Config and try previewing an appropriate channel (it should work, and the OSCAM command window should start updating every couple of seconds as it handshakes with ACamd).

    19. (After you have proven it to work) You can set OSCAM to run as a windows service rather than in a msdos command window (it is more reliable like this). before you do this, you will need to close the OSCAM command window and do a re-boot. (note: if you don't want to setup OSCAM as a service, you will need to make sure that windows automatically runs OSCAM at startup).

    Use these instructions: Create your own user-defined services Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 (Windows NT/2000/XP/2003) - TACKtech Corp.

    When you put the string details in the registry (show as "String : <path> \<application.ext>" within the above link), you need to also add a -c switch and the conf file directory, so on my system the string looks like this:

    Code:
    C:\oscam\oscam.exe -c C:\oscam

    20. From my limited experience, OSCAM is generally pretty stable, but it is often problematic during recovery from standby (problems with blocking users or not reading smartcard). Simply trying to re-start the OSCAM service after recovery from standby doesn't work as you often end up with multiple instances of OSCAM running (which stops it working all together). The best fix to this is to make sure you use the Omnikey drivers I have linked to in item 1 of this instruction.

    However, if you are still having problems: Create a batch file somewhere with the single line in it
    Code:
    tskill oscam /A
    .

    Download "Power Triggers" and install it (Power Triggers is a programme for running programmes and re-starting services after standby).

    Configure "Power Triggers" so that it runs your batch file before the system enters standby (thus killing OSCAM) and then also so that it "restarts" the OSCAM service upon resume. (note, selecting "start" service does not work, it must be "restart" for some reason).

    This will refresh OSCAM after every standby event.

    Thats awesome, thanks very much for your time Robbo!

    I must admit, I didn't go any further with your older instructions as the Dreambox system "just works" but now you've re-written them, I will certainly be giving them a go!!!

    Again, thank you!

    Are you using TVSource? If so then this would go in the same place as your Dreambox i.e. source\plugins directory.... i think! I'm using 7MC with TVSource so should find out in the next few days.

    Yep - stick the acamd files in the tvsource/plugin folder, and you should be good to go, if the rest of the config is working ok.

    Do we need to do the steps with this MDAPI or is this a Media Portal thing?

    No I prefer brown source. :p

    In all seriousness, I have no idea at all what any of this means but I shall avail myself of the necessary information before I get stuck in! :rolleyes:

    Not yet. No rush, but if you can have a look when you have time, that would be great.

    Don't ask me! :laugh:

    I would have thought so, but maybe not all of it. The installation command programme I refer to sets up everything for Mediaportal, but if you are using a different tuner you will need to use the MPAPI files (but put them in a different location. I suspect you just need to register MDAPIfilter.ax and put ffdesca.dll somewhere. That is what you do to make it work with For The Record.

    Here's what I've done in the past....

    install the card reader, and smart card - checking in device manager that the drivers are installed correctly.

    install oscam, and set up as a service.

    setup the oscam.server file:

    Code:
    # oscam.server generated automatically by Streamboard OSCAM 1.20-unstable_svn build #5932
    # Read more: http://streamboard.gmc.to/svn/oscam/trunk/Distribution/doc/txt/oscam.server.txt

    [reader]
    label                         = skyhd
    protocol                      = pcsc
    device                        = 0
    caid                          = 0963
    #boxid                         = XXXXXX
    detect                        = cd
    mhz                           = 357
    cardmhz                       = 357
    group                         = 1
    emmcache                      = 1,3,2
    blockemm-unknown              = 1
    blockemm-g                    = 1
    deprecated                    = 1

    create oscam.user file with as many users as required:

    Code:
    [account]
    user                          = User1
    pwd                           = User1
    group                         = 1
    monlevel                      = 1
    au                            = bb
    caid                          = 0963
    ident                         = 0963:000000

    Create the oscam.conf file:

    Code:
    [global]
    logfile                       = oscam.log
    nice                          = -20
    maxlogsize                    = 2048
    preferlocalcards              = 1
    saveinithistory               = 1
    readerrestartseconds          = 4

    [monitor]
    hideclient_to                 = 15
    appendchaninfo                = 0

    [newcamd]
    port                          = 15008@0963:000000
    serverip                      = 127.0.0.1
    key                           = 0102030405060708091011121314

    [cccam]
    port                          = 12000
    reshare                       = 0
    version                       = 2.1.4

    [webif]
    httpport                      = 8080
    httpuser                      = user1
    httppwd                       = user1
    httpallowed                   = 127.0.0.1

    Then start oscam, and go to the url and check that the process is running and decoding the card correctly.

    You then install dvblink tvsource, and copy the acamd files into the plugins folder:

    in the cardclient.conf file, you have:

    Code:
    newcamd:localhost:15008:1/0963/ffff:User1:User1:0102030405060708091011121314

    in the smartcard.conf file, i have lines uncommented for:

    Code:
    nds: BOXID XXXXXXXX

    I think that's it.

    You then setup your tuners in tvsource, and perform previews using VLC and check the acamd monitor to ensure that the keys are correctly decoding.

    Then setup in MC.

    HTH
    Tony

    Just a quick comment that I don't think this is needed any more. I think several months ago OSCAM removed the need for you to set the BOXID and it reads it direct from the card. (when I start OSCAM it pops saying NDS encryption and then tells me what the BOXID is)

    I have updated the instruction with a link to better Omnikey drivers. These drivers stop windows detecting the smart card as a device in its own right and makes the system act in the same way as it does with XP.

    Sorry mate, although the instructions *almost* work (I can't get it to work with TVSource but thats not your problem), the card drivers are very unreliable on Win 7x64. Same symptoms Tony has talked about in the past where they only pick up the card 50% of the time on a reboot. That won't pass the WAF test i'm afraid.:(

    Back to the 100% reliable Dreambox for me :rolleyes:

    I have never tried 7x64, so I can't comment. Thanks for the feedback though.

    Is there any way that you could run a batch routine shortly after bootup that kills the OSCAM service and reinitialises it? I think things are much more stable if the OSCAM software is loaded after everything else if booted up.

    I put a 2 minute delay on the service startup.

    I've just bought a Omnikey3121 reader. My plan is to install this and the TV card in my WHS2011 server and share the TV tuners across the network with TVsource. I've got a Blackgold 3595 DVB-S2 card which should be fine I guess. Any thoughts on this config?

    Cheers

    That would work as long as the omnikey drivers were OK with WHS2011.

    You would just need to make sure your newcamd configuration was setup with the appropriate IP address rather than the local host.

    Im going to get it working on my main machine first which is W7 64 so hopefully if that goes well then hopefuly theyll work ok on WHS2011.

    Can anybody tell me which version of TVSource to go for? I want the tv card(s) to go in the server and to be shared over the home network only. Not really bothered about handheld devices or external access

    The DVB-S2 card is in and working! :thumbsup:...............but, after getting irritated by the wiki for dvbsource being so badly written :mad: and subsequently struggling to get it working :mad: and then finding out that it's not a free app :thumbsdow, I decided to give media portal a try.........but I can't get the TV server working at all in that!! :suicide:

    I haven't even plugged the card reader in yet! Merry :censored: Christmas :p :laugh:

    It kept saying 'no free card available' in MP when it all appeared to be working correctly in the config.

    I've sussed it now though, there was an option for the tuner card that must of been incorrect. It was on 'generic' or something, rather than DVB-S and it now works in MP, although I have no EPG info still. :rolleyes: I'm not very impressed with MP so far, that was a total fluke that I found that option for the DVB-S card and the wiki had zero information on it.

    Leaving it as generic would normally be fine.

    How are you planning on getting your EPG? Using DVB EPG or using and online data source like radio times?
