Samsung PS51D6900 Owners Thread *Part 8*
I've upgraded from 51d6900 (FW 1015) to 60e6500 and the picture seems a tad more lively. It also buzzes a lot more (i'm on a 3rd e6500 set at the moment, d6900 is almost dead silent) and the real black pro filter does me head in because of a wave like pattern visible on dark scenes or when the telly is off and also it reduces vertical viewing angles.
Size wise, anything below 60 inch now seems pointless especially for 3d content.
How high is it mounted? You shouldn't be able to see the filter like that.
Eye level, I have it on a stand. I sit pretty close to it though (about 10 feet).
Here's an example. I know it's exaggerated but gives a good idea of what I'm talking about. Samsung on the right LG on the left.
D6900 has no real blah blah filters and it looks almost as good.
I have said all along the 59/60" samsungs have the buzz, 51" are near silent. Its a fact borne out by replacement after replacement with a lot of D6900 owners last year.
This rbf thing sounds a bit dodgy though, none of the reveiws criticise it from the proper veiwing angles.
10 feet is by no means to close , intact I find that ideal.
I hope you can get something sorted out though .
I think I'll stick with the current set. It's like a really annoying lottery, the 2nd set wasn't buzzing as much but it had so much banding I couldn't stand looking at it.
I wish there was a viable alternative.
Has there been a guide of some sort on how to calibrate this set with a downloaded program?
I would like to try calibration and may also update to 1019 as the heat coming out if this thing is beyond a joke!
Just started my update I was running 1007!! Now going to 1019... I know there are some issues with brightness but I'm not too concerned
Helps a little but not a lot in it, hardly notice anything.
Should have made a difference, Are you watching the Olympics as you may not notice much with that. Was watching (well mrs was) the Yachting earlier and basically the whole scene was Blue .
Its difficult to advise mate as mr Dads 51" is on 1016 and i have adjusted a lot in the SM on mine so no use giving you my settings,
Whats your main issue now ?,
Me lol Im still happy with the set it just seems closer to LCD than the Panasonic's I had though the clear blue tint was mainly noticeable with the BBC Olympic studio. Don't forget Im also sitting too close for now, I need to get setup in my next house with a cal before I decide if I want to replace it....thinking of going bigger too lol
Lol, Wow Another World Record for vWomens Cycling , Opps sorry ,
My Dads is All default WB as is not far out ny eye to be fair. My set needed Red-Gain of just 3 to get it inline , I altered this in the SM along with some other bits n bobs so i did not have to use such a negative in the User Menu.
My 50" scoobs (whoops , 59") at 8-10 feet is perfect although i could drag me chair in a lot closer for 3D , Which i love by the way .
Happy Days ... Did i just say that... ....
Yes you did
6 for 6, fantastic!
Doh, 59" i meant ... , Must be the Adrenaline or the Wine
Panman can I trouble you for some advice!?
I just wanted to know what calibration software to use, I'm quite a noob! I have read a lot about downloading and putting it on disc or USB stick...
I have just updated to 1019, happy so far as buzz has lessened and seems to be running cooler.
I have looked at all this years upgrade options and to be honest I don't think there is a huge leap forward in terms of PQ. So I would really like to squeeze the best out of this set as it is a great TV.
Thanks in advance
we use chromapure, speak to ricky j on here or give him a ring.

Has anyone got a pair of Xpand 104's? Are they any good?
I hate the Samsung 3D glasses that I bought (4100's) the lenses are too small and they are uncomfortable.

I liked the 3100's and for £9.99 I may just get some of those! I do really like the look of the Xpands though, £70 is a bit steep for 3d glasses though!
its well dear, i have the 3100 and 4100 and 3050s, the 3100 are great for blocking side light, but i think the 3050 and 4100 have slight better colour rendition(have seen this is due to having frame all the way around the glass)
the 3300 are great as the rechargable.
Hiya Scott, Those 4100 have been samped by Me and me Mum, We both say they are Diabolicle in Fit and feel like el cheapo Junk .
3100, 3050, 3700 and Pana Specs are good to go
Its funny how different people are, i find the 4100 the most confy as they wrap arounf my head and i can stick my head on my sofa the others the arms are straighter and cant really dig my head in my sofa
Mate you Are an Alien.... , Those 4100's just slipped to one side or the other on my face, Really annoting, I have a biggish head and me Mum a normal to small. They were just crap for me .
Watched HTTYD 3D this afty with those well expensive Panny Glasses and it was MINT . This Time next year we will both be Millionaires
What panny glasses are you referring to? And I'm desperately trying to work out what HTTYD is! I'm going to feel stupid when you tell me!

The 3100's and 3700 are great too. Bear in mind that i maybe the Alien here not Scott and the 4100 are great !!
Well I could be an alien too! I can't stand the 4100's!
i got 6 sets of 4100 and 2 of the 3050 and2 of the 3100, i brought the 4100 for the kids but they dont sit on there nose properly so i end up getting them but then i decided i actually prefer them, the only thing is the rms dont fold.
What about the 3300?? lol Nice glasses but the arms do not fold.
do the 3300 not fold
3700's Dont fold either but i have them in a Drawer so no bother really , Watched HTTYD 3D again this afternoon , I am addicted and it looks Mint , I love all the Dreamworks 3D so far .
How are you getting on now , have you managed to find some decent settings yet ? .
