Now here's a bit of convergence for you with news that Samsung are launching the Galaxy Beam - a Smartphone that doubles as a Projector! As with the Galaxy Tab 2 news, the Beam was launched out at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The Galaxy Beam lets people share photos, videos and other digital media with family or friends by beaming content stored on the device directly onto walls, ceilings or flat surfaces with a 15 lumens output.

Simon Stanford, UK & IRE Telecommunications & Networks Division said: “The Samsung Galaxy Beam gives people freedom to share what’s important to them instantly with friends and family. With the Galaxy Beam, people can share content from their smartphone with people around them, using it like a pocket projector to create shared experiences – whether that’s watching movies, sharing holiday snaps or a spontaneous presentation.”

Samsung says the Galaxy Beam can produce 'crisp', high-definition projected images up to 50’’ wide. The device features a projector-dedicated application which makes it easy to select content and activate projection in a few simple steps.

Despite featuring a full built-in projector, the Galaxy Beam is only 12.5mm thick. It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread which is powered by a 1.0GHz dual-core processor, it has 8GB of internal memory and a 2000 mAh battery ensures greater display power and content freedom.
