rumblesushi did you get your set sorted out?
Mine is gone stuck watching a 32" Pioneer LCD...
No joy with getting the touch remote from jl for my 6 day old 51d8000
But on a good note they price matched elctrocentre over the weekend at £789!
quids in then m8
lol, a Pioneer LCD? How surreal
It's a shame you had too many issues to keep it, I'll be interested to see if you're happy with your GT50, is that still definitely what you're getting?
And no, for some reason they're not swapping mine till Thursday even though I arranged it the same day as you I think.
I sure do hope this new panel is issue free.
I'm going to go for a 55" VT50 as soon as my supplier has one in stock.
It doesnt need it anymore due to HDMI ports, most Graphics cards on the game computers PC's have a HDMI output, and so do the PS3 and xbox.
Even my 2 year old notebook has a HDMI output.
Anyway thats the reason they decided to drop the VGA port, besides the big quality dif HDMI puts on your screen.
So If you have a PC without a HDMI port on the graphics card it might be a good idea to pickup a g/card WITH hdmi output socket.
Well im sorry to say I've message richer sounds as I've now got 2 faulty pixels and the dse is starting to bug me. Its like faint line bleed across the screen.
Going to see what my options with them. Little bit saddened as i love this screen but there faults have driven me to this.
thats a shame, im seeing more and more people with plasma from samsung. i must be very very lucky i have no probs what so ever with my d550 59" touch wood.
I have just bought the PN51E550 to replace my buzzing D6900 on the basis that it has the real black panel that the 51D8000 has?
What a disappointment. In anything but pitch black, reflections are very distracting. Tried watching Game of Thrones with minimal (not direct) light and it was literally like looking in a mirror. Nowhere near as good as the D6900.
Is this what the D8000 is like as I dont remember it being anything like as reflective when I saw it in a store several months ago. If not, why the disparity in anti-glare properties if they use the same filter?
I was wondering what the differences are between a D8000 and the newer model, the E6500. I can't find any reviews on the E6500 and there's plenty of the D8000. What's also curious is that the price difference between the two is very very small....curious because the E6500 is a 2012 model.
Fingers crossed mate for ya. I doubt you will get DSE its normally something you see out the box. Samsung sets can produce one of the best images Ive ever seen.
TBH this set does produce a awesome image, its just the let down of pixels and DSE. I tried to live with the DSE I could just about do it but for a flagship model to have pixel issues and DSE so soon after a panel replacement makes me think if Richer Sounds offer me the option of a different set should I take it? Or do I try another set? Try a E8000? I dont know I guess its something to think about.
Not really wanting to waste my last couple of weeks of paternity leave on dealing with TV problems.
I believe your comparing 2 different spec models, The E6500 is this years replacement for the D6900.
The E8000 is this years replacement for the D8000.
Sorry if i have misunderstood your post.
I think Moonwalker knows.
I guess as they are the same price he is wondering if the new model has improvements that make it an equal to last years flagship.
Much like this years ST50 Panasonic is on a par with last years VT30.
Insanity had told me that this years E6500 used the same filter as last years D8000 plasma and the ES8000 used a better filter again.
No offense but you're kind of stating the obvious
Of course most modern hardware have HDMI outputs, including my laptop and 360, but a VGA port is still very useful to have. The first thing that springs to mind is for the Dreamcast, one of my favourite consoles, and I'm sure others would find it useful for different reasons.
I guess it's not something that's considered essential, but I would much rather have one.
That's good to know, but that's not what i meant.
With differences i meant...picture quality, black levels and motion. I have never seen the D6900 and there's no way to check it out either, the E8000 is just out of my budget, it's nearing 2000 euros and thats just impossible for me. So it's either the D8000 or E6500. If the D8000 is actually better than the E6500.....
Cheers the first thing i looked for was dead pixels and banding and lucky nothing at all which was a shock as my last lcd took 2 repairs and 3tv s before a good one.
And i don't blame you waiting to waste you time as you have a New child so congratulations to you and your other. Maybe say you will try one more and that's it its a hard choice, you could get problems with other tv s its pretty bad really.
Just hope you get it sorted.
Yep... I have three laptops with VGA inputs that need this...
Just collected my second 64"... buzzing still present, but at least the HDMI board isn't spoilt. Somehow even though the buzz isn't very obvious at the panel, it manages to travel across the room to the dining table, where I can hear it distinctly when nothing is on the telly...
On their website Samsung appear to imply that of this years models only the 6500 and 8000 have the Real Black "pro" filter, lower range models have the Real black only.
Last year only the D8000 had the the top range filter, although the D6900 was okay it wasn't the same one
Yeah bit of a long day yesterday !.
It depends where you look for info regarding the filters, its been reported that all the Samsung plasmas this year will have the real black filtr from the 2011 D8000 yet to my eyes looking at the E550 it certainly does not.
It would seem the E6500 and E8000 share the same filter. To confuse matters I have also read the E8000 has a 'clear image panel' over the E6500 then I have also seen that both have that.
Until some solid reviews of UK sets start to appear its anyones guess !.
Websites are not always accurate but:
TVs - LED TV - LCD TV - Plasma TV - 3D TV - Accessories | Samsung UK
And when you add the E8000 into the mix
TVs - LED TV - LCD TV - Plasma TV - 3D TV - Accessories | Samsung UK
Ah but i meant the E6500 plasma, not the LCD
Its a typo on the Samsung site, if you look it definitely is the plasma
Got a call from richer sounds. Awesome polite service as always had a chat with a gent whos name i forgot lol.
Short story shorter lol im calling Samsung to see if they can explain the faults and im going to try and find out what is causing the dse.
Ah ok thanks man.
I'm in no position to go out and buy a plasma though. Right now i have a Toshiba LCD, brand new and most of it is awesome on the tv, picture quality is insane, but i can't get used to the motion blur/smudge effect in some games, it truly is very distracting and i'm already missing plasma's smoothness. But i want to make sure that, if i sell this LCD, that the plasma i'm gonna buy with that money provides the same picture quality too, all those aspects are very important to me. It's probably best demo these sets first before selling anything.
Looked at that a million times now and still makes no sense ,
Clear Image Panel > Yes / Yes / Clear Image Panel
Lol you'd think a professional company like Samsung would check for mistakes before posting them on the website
Well Samsung want to send it for repair again. Getting out of them what's causing the dse didn't happen as they seemed not to be bothered and just kept repeating they will keep on repairing.I did ask what happens if the next set is the same, they just replied it will be another repair until the end of the warranty period one after the other.
think it might be time to say goodbye to this beast then jon
