Is it me or does that look pretty much like some kind of scandinavian sauna site?

Maybe the scientists were drunk on heat + cider and they though, LETS SPLICE SOME GENES!

Im getting worried that theres not enough linking this to Alien/Aliens. Need to see some more pics before passing judgement, we dont really know properly whats actually about do we?

*edit* just read the wiki page so my guess is its more to do with the space jockey and its intentions with the Xenomorph (to be used as a bio weapon or panet cleaner?) A bit like seeing the death star plans in the star wars prequel. If so colour me interested as I always wondered *** the space jockey was. Some comic iterations of it had it down as some kind of intergalactic collector but I was never happy with that.

That's why they didn't make it officially an Alien prequel.

When I first saw that I thought it meant she's just a suit as in she's a human suit, android underneath. Doh. A suit as in an executive is what she means isn't it:blush:

Various screenshots from the footage shown at SDCC. Why can't they release it in HD for the rest of us!

Hmmm, my initial thoughts are it looks a little too clean for my liking. I liked the grungy space truckers feel of the first Alien movie and was hoping they would repeat that again with this movie.

Either way I'll wait for some proper footage before passing judgement.

In terms of design it looks very much like the original Alien. These characters presumably aren't "space truckers", so the environment reflects this.

I was going to add a warning, but I figure if they've shown that much to fans at comic con then they aren't spoilers. It'll all probably be in the trailer.

Are we to assume that AvP is non-canon in this movie?

God I hope so, AvP and AvP2 are awful pieces of work.

You don't seriously think Ridley Scott would feel obliged to reference them.

I'm just highlighting the whole "Aliens dropped into the planet when the Mayans were all up in the house" might be detrimental to the film premise here.

Though it would be cool if they were around. Always thought Ripley(ressurected or original) vs Predator would rule.

Didn't Ridley Scott and James Cameron meet up around the time that one of those AvP films to discuss an alien film (and I'm sure they said they were ignoring the avp films).

They were talking about a sequel while the first AvP was in early development and when AvP went forward, that put an end to the Cameron/Scott/Weaver Alien sequel. I believe the reasoning was that AvP was a lot cheaper to make and the last two entries in the Alien franchise had been under-performing, so it didn't make sense for Fox to throw a lot of money at it.

A truly awful movie and one which I think we should all deny ever happened.

It's generally believed that the first Alien takes place in 2122. Early prequel news said that this film will be set 30 years earlier. AVP takes place in 2004, so that means 88 years to completely forget/cover up those events. Alternatively you can just do what I do and put the AVP films in a drawer (along with Alien: Resurrection) and pretend they don't exist :D

Having said that, Ridley and co have gone to great lengths to try and separate this film from the existing franchise, similar to the way the AVP films are separate. With that in mind then I guess you could argue that the AVP films should also be considered canon. I personally wouldn't though, just to clarify.

A couple more pics have popped up online. Very interesting indeed.

Here's a link. Spoiler warning! Although again these were apparently seen at SDCC.

Looking at that first pic it struck me too - I think the Space Jockeys came to Earth twenty years ago and founded a chain of money sucking retail stores called Ikea

Director Renny Harlin talked to Craveonline about his films, and gave a little insight into his Alien 3 concept pre-David Fincher version.

And you left because it wasn’t what you wanted. What did you want from Alien 3. I’ve always been curious about this.

I would have wanted to see that.
