One of the tweeters in my much-loved B&W P6 floorstanding speakers is knackered, so I'm looking to replace them with a new pair with the same kind of neutral, detailed sound. (I tried to get a replacement tweeter from B&W but they stopped making the P6 ages ago and unfortunately sold their last spare tweeter for them earlier this year !) I haven't really looked at the Hi-Fi market since buying the P6's back in '94 or thereabouts, so I popped into my local dealer to have a look at today's offerings. I instinctively looked at B&W and am definitely going to have a listen to a pair of CM9's - they look absolutely stunning in the gloss black finish and internet reviews are very positive and describe them as having the neutral, detailed sound that I am after. Sorry - I'm being a bit lazy here but are there any other suggestions you want to give me to have a listen to ? Looking to spend £1,000 and above, possibly up to the £1,800 price tag of the CM9's if they grab me by the b*lls and don't let go. Matching with a Primare D30.2 CD player, Musical Fidelity MXL preamp, and two P180 Power Amps (monoblocked) with a CRPS power supply. Chord Epic cable. Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.
