Nice one Rom
How far off are you from getting an A-300 ?
Hope the donations have been pouring in
Not exactly But I have bitten the bullet and ordered one last night anyway. I will probably be selling my A-210 to cover the cost. I'm just tired of 'guessing' with paths - they are the bane of my life at the moment. I will still have my C-200 to test NMJv1 as well (for the original NMJToolbox).
There are some issues with the last release of NMJT2 which I will work on tonight after work.
TheTVDB updates do not update anything if the TVDB has no cast members.
One person has reported that video files do not play in the NMJ when added with NMJT2 on his setup (not sure of his exact setup but it will probably be the old PATHS issue!)
Good stuff - I guess your fully up to speed on what to do when it arrives, set up wise
I will be using the NMJT2 to the full from tonite/tomorrow nite
Ive spent the weekend moving 2tb of data from an external Seagate usb hdd to the internal hdd in my A300
Long story, but the external drive is not formatted correctly and the A300 cant see it via usb so bit the bullet and transferring everything off it so can re-format and use in the future.
Doing this 500gb at a time via Macbook and using a portable usb drive and updating the NMJ each time whilst transferring the next 500gb
Not looked at how much the NMJ has missed but will probably be a lot !
If I take hard disk out of my current PCHA-110 and put it into an A-300 then is there an upgrade feature to migrate the OS and content? Or do I have to simply format and start from scratch?
Currently in stock at Pixmania (also where I procured mine from )...
And mine was despatched last night so hopefully will receive it Thursday(ish).
Also got 5.5% quidco & £5 off orders over £200 so comes in delivered for just over £193

anyone else lost ability to connect to retrieve info on movie etc ? still have internet connection but no connection to that service
Also I can't get full sound when playing an mp4 file. No vocals when listening through tv ?
Movie info retrieved fine for me from TheMovieDB in NMJToolbox. Are you having problems with toolbox or the NMJ scanner?
in file mode you press the info button and it retreives the movie poster, fan art etc
It seems the Syabas servers are down (they cache all the info and your popcorn will try to go there for the details).
thanks for the info. Thoought it had broken!
server is still down !
there are a couple of things that could improve the popcorn hour machines in my opinion:
The ability to choose other artwork for movies when useing the NMJ mode.
when NMJ scans my hard drive it scans most movies correctly, but some have the wrong art work for the movie.
it shouldnt be neccesary for Rom to release a program called NMJ toolbox to correct these problems.
if i stick to file mode then i can choose what artwork i want and if its wrong, choose the correct artwork.
And the server going down this long is annoying, i havnt had my A300 that long and am still adding movies.
Also mp4 movies have an audio problem through my tv. Background sounds but no speech
Correcting individual movie details via the NMJ works fine with internal hdd stored files but there is a bug for shares which the next fw will hopefully address.
For the mp4 audio problems, have you set up the audio settings in the A300?
If you are using your tv to output audio I guess you need to select downmix/stereo
i will try downmix, but i did a google search and a few other people reported problems with mp4 files.
EDIT: thanks KevG123, altered audio to downmix and mp4 audio is fine
I found a couple of movies had wrong artwork after a scan of movies on internal HDD by NMJ even though in file mode they had the correct artwork.
i couldnt see any option to change artwork in NMJ mode?
In NMJ mode, when you select a movie to the point where you have an option to play, delete, re-scan, edit (these are icons) - select edit and you get the option to change title and search again - you can also put in the tmdb reference for an exact match
There is also the option to select different posters or fanart (if there is more than one)
Thanks again! I didnt know that.
will give that a go when the servers are back up
the A-300 manual is finally out !
Server is back up ( sort of)
Can't get alternate artwork for movies and
Tv series like family guy don't seem to have any artwork available?
Before I buy a popcorn hour A300, how often does the server go down.
It's not a problem that should stop you buying an A300.
It just means you can't automatically add movie artwork.
Perfect time to try Rom's NMJToolbox
First time I've experienced it. Don't think its very common
I've got mine set up and upgraded from PCH A-110. No need to back up existing data on the internal HDD like I did
First impressions are I must say quite disappointing.
The overall font size is STILL too small for TV distance viewing, although the GUI itself has improved.
The FFWD and REW speed on videos are even slower than the A110! They only go up to x4 which is more of a 'slow' forward and hardly worth using. The A110 at 8x was just about usable. And why do some file formats not allow you to rew at all?
Jpeg photo viewing is a bit of an improvement on the A-110 but the scaling makes the images lack detail, so if you have another device to view your pics on TV like a PS3, Xbox, BD player or PC then stick with that as the quality is MUCH better.
My main reason for buying it was to play BD and AVCHD ISO (which I haven't tried yet) and also to play 1080 50p footage from my camcorder, which unfortunately the A-300 doesn't do very well. It stutters along and drops audio completely! Hopefully this will be fixed in a future firmware upgrade.
I only had a quick dable with the NMJ (Net Media jukebox), which seems ok, a little bit unintuitive and the Wizard scan gets the media wrong most of the time (for my films anyway!). I still haven't worked out how to remove the downloaded media info and art yet or how to manually add your own.
These are just my finding from literally one evening so i'm hoping it will improve the more I use it (and firmware updates)
Must admit based on my previous experiences of syabas devices and recent feedback on the A300, my next lot of media streamers will not be popcorn hour based. Going to look at Dune, even though they are based on the same processor.
The syabas development irritates me, and whilst I've been happy to learn, make mistakes and allow mistakes from the manufacturers, this stuff isn't exactly cutting edge anymore. It seems they struggle to get the basics right, and I refuse to be a beta tester any more.
Posting again as it ended up as last post on the previous page - and some might miss it
