Lot's of old tech is better than new....just look at the auto industry, or musical industry..
There's many a good tune played on an old fiddle...
Love my 5090 and can't see me replacing it anytime soon. My next tv will have to be 'all singing, all dancing' and have it's own thread and people who know what they're talking about (Bumtious etc).....
Ps; 3d doesn't do it for me so not a consideration. Size? Maybe, but I sit 2 metres from my 5090 and that's fine.
same as, cant say i will be replacing my krp anytime soon, when to comet today to have a browse, came away pretty dissapointed, thinking do i get something new, i mean even the remotes on these new tvs dont even come close
I am itching to pull the trigger on something but as shane says there is nothing but disappointment out there .
I mean 3+ years and still nothing, what's going on at all .
Just watched "True Grit" and the ways y'all a talkin, I have ta agreee wit y'all.
The replacement for our 5090H must have
A better black xi
A 3D without glasses
A integrated media player with mkv support
A advanced linux satellite receiver
And full of android , internet etc .
Then and only then we will replace our treasure
Stick with the pioneer mate confident you will not find better for many years to come, you have a gem there hold on to it...
now been sold kokieav
What are you gonna replace it with?
A beef filled yarkshire puddin n gravy, and the manly ran away with the spoon .
You been on't ale Rob?
I'm considering moving my 5090 to a different position in the room but, in order to do so, will need a 4 metre mains lead.
Has anyone either extended the existing Pioneer mains lead or purchased a longer replacement ?
yep, needed a longer one to plaster into the wall, any standard 'kettle' lead will do such as those used to power your pc
My ATV2 will let me set 720p 60hz no problem. In fact, it defaults to that.
I'd also be interested to know what the recommended drive modes and pure cinema settings are for Netflix via ATV2 and PS3. Anyone have a view?
I've recently been getting a "checking for software updates" message on screen. Does anyone else get this?
I'm using a 10m cable for my KRP500 panel with no problems.
It's a software bug with the ATV2 which only seems to affect some KURO models and Panasonic TVs. There is a thread about it on the Apple forums. The conclusion was Apple has fixed it in the latest ATV2 beta so hopefully it should work fine when they issue the next public update.
Hi has anyone tried comparing the krp500A with the krp500m side by side? Does the 500M have better picture quality than the A or are they both identical?
Bloody el just spent a couple of hours reading through plasma/led lcd forums
just glad i bought a 5090 years ago, there is so many problems with these new tvs. I really liked the look of the sony kdl923 but having a demo yesterday i
still think there is nowt out there to make me want to change my pio.
The m is a minute ammout better. Tiny in fact, but i can't remember what bumtious said when he was telling me about the two panels.
Never seen the M version running so can't really comment. It was the A's external media/connection box that decided it for me; I only needed to run 1 10m display port cable rather than 4 10m hdmi cables.
I see, M a little better than the A. I feel sad now, I would have love to own a reference krp500m. too bad there no longer in production.
I'll just stick with my krp500A.
I think the M has slightly finer calibration controls...
I wouldn't feel sad mate. Properly calibrated you wouldn't see the difference.
From my side no.
It's not worth it to jump to a 500M. (from a KRP 500A)
But there is the thing that coming from the factory, not every 500A or M has the same PQ. One is better than the other.
I did have three 500A versions @ home, i had to sell one for a friend of mine, and i have a 2nd 500A right now and the last one has the best PQ of all three. All of them were ISF calibrated by the same company.
The ISF guy explained me the story about the difference in panels.
Hi, I have noticed on my 5090 a feint ghosting that appears when things are scrolling vertically down the screen, only noticeable when the screen is bright. It's almost like a shadow that runs parallel to, for example credits. Any ideas what this is? Will try and post a photo tomorrow...
