Telephoned virgin today querying a rather odd bill and had discounts re applied etc and i said we fancy the F1 channel etc , the lady said hmm your on 50mb bb and xl tv and phone, how about i can do you our new 60mb bb and all your tv and sky sports etc all you need to get f1 plus a bb upgrade to 60mb all for extra 17pounds a month.

so all sky sports channels , f1 channel and now 60mb broadband (unlimited she said hmm)

seems to run at 65mb bb on speed tests.

seems my upload is now 3mb though was 5mb , doesnt worry me but i guess there targeting uploaders with that.

quite happy with VM for a change.

you basically got on their old package of 30mb that has been upgraded to 60mb if you stayed on 50mb package then your speed would of tripled to 100mb for free look like you didn't get great deal after all. but sky sports channel is worth it but for broadband not so great in my opinion.

i believe you been lied to because 3mb upload is for 30mb customer. and to get 100mb upgrade you need to be on 50mb package to be eligible to get the upgrade. you should call and complain or get something in writing saying you still going to get upgraded to 100mb.

I called up to see if the 60mb broadband was available (currently on 30mb)

The girl said that the cabinets in my area can already cope wit 100mb so I can upgrade to 60mb now if I wanted.

There is an extra £25 charge per month - So much for being free upgrade.

She said that I cannot have it as a free upgrade until July as thats the month Mr bolt shows on the VM website.

Just annoying tht I can have it now but they wont let me unless I pay an extra £25 quid.

Personally, I think she was wrong. If your area has been upgraded then you should already be on the higher speed. The rest is just nonsense.

I did call them back and they said I will be entitled to free upgrade as the new 60mb is just rolling out it isn't even on the website yet, but it will be, and 60 mb customers only goto 100 mb free as only current 100mb customers get 120 and a price drop.

Ooh and the upload speed change is to make sure all customers get the best performance nonsense , all users might be gettin a upload hit apart from 100mb

Sorry. Yes. The bit about the 'free upgrade' was, of course, correct.

She also mentioned that any areas that have the 100mb broadband available do not need any engineers to carry out any more work.

So its basically sitting there waiting to be doubled but VM cba doing it until July, even later for some customers.

This upgrade started in Feb so obviously there is customers already enjoying the doubled speed & pay the same as us but yet most of us can actually have our speed doubled now but virgin want to charge us more until it says the upgrade is due on the website. Joke.

Enough moaning from me anyway, 30mb is plenty of bandwidth for me :laugh:

To be fair, CS don't usually have a clue what they're on about :)

If you are not in one of the areas listed here then you have not had the upgrade done.
