    That looks AMAZING :smashin:

Good work. The exit sign looks MEGA.

    Very inspirational

Cheers Rick, that is very nice of you :smashin:

The EXIT sign was a bit of a gimmick I suppose, but as it only cost about £15 I thought it was worth it. Most people comment on it when they see it and have a laugh.

My room is not complete though apparently, because I don't have a popcorn machine
That is what almost everyone asks

I just use that microwave popcorn, which is great. When we have anyone round for a film evening, we put the popcorn in a few minutes before they arrive, that way the house smells like a cinema, in a good way of course!!!

This is a link to a picture of my Devore fabric, for those that asked about it:

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/atta...17-x-8-diy-cinema-room-ex-garage-p1000298.jpg

The picture was taken with a full flash, which makes the ceiling look bright, although the ceiling is actually painted Matt Black!!! The walls are matt black paper too. This just shows how good the Devore is at not reflecting any light.

    No probs Phil :smashin:

I think when you do 99.9% of it yourself then the final result looks even better as it is far more rewarding :)

A gimmick well worth doing, its MEGA, and not if, but WHEN I do a cinema room I will definitely have an exit sign.

You could always have a small pick and mix stand instead, or even both :)

Went to the cinema on Saturday morning (kids club) My Mrs, Daughter, and me and was scanning the place looking at all the features etc for future cinema room ideas, they must have thought I was checking the place over to nick something ha ha  :rotfl:

    Good work :smashin:

I did exactly the same a few months ago, the Mrs was getting well embarrassed by my antics, touching all the surfaces, taking photos of the walls etc..

    AMAZING. Love it. PMSL.

Taking photos of the walls, surprised you weren't dragged out

Was that for the finishing touches on yours?

Thanks Phil. Have just ordered my Ecoair Ultra 12000 Self Install Air Conditioner from the link you gave. Am thinking of covering all my walls in black devore, have red carpets, a black ceiling and blue LED rope lights..sounds familiar, especially considering the near identical size of our rooms! Thats the real problem, for rooms our size you've gone and made the nigh perfect room so expect to be copied frequently!

    Cheers mate :smashin:

If you have any questions about fitting the AC give me a shout.

I hope you've costed the Devore, it's great but a bit pricey, especially for "all walls"

Hi, how did you make that screen?

It's just an 8' x 4' sheet of MDF, carefully painted (rollered) with decent matt white emulsion a few times. The border is made up of UPVC strips covered with a mixture of Dunelm velcro and Devore.

I am really pleased with the end result. It was fellow member kbFern who recommended this type of screen construction. After seeing his I was sure that was what I was going to do.

Looks fantastic Phil!cant believe how good the image is from that 350,really its just blown me away, the THX and DTS signs are nice touches also:smashin:Time to chat to the missus about a garage conversion i think.........

    Cheers mate :smashin:
Yes the 350 is great. It's my first PJ. For £1800 I am well pleased with it. I think having my room really dark helps a lot though, as the tiniest bit of light coming in (ie when the door is cracked open) spoils the picture considerably.

I'll make sure the room's all set up for when you pop round for those stands next week. It might help convince your missus.

The turntable is just a Pro-ject Debut 1, but it serves me well enough.

Hey mate, great room and setup! Good use of space as well, its amazing how much you can fit in a room if you try! Does it not get hot hot in there?

Just wondering if you could tell me about the blue lights on your TV rack? I may have missed the answer in the pages before this but if you dont mind i quite like the look of it!

Thanks Blademansw for the cabinet link.

Just wanted to add myself to the Phil.LFC appreciation list lol.

Your setup is amazing mate, love the attention to detail with the THX & Exit signs, very nice touches.

I do agree with others about having a popcorn maker though lol. When I eventually build my own dedicated Home Theatre (next house as current one has no room) I intend to build an entrance lobby too like an old fashioned cinema which will house (amongst other things like a ticket booth) an old fashioned popcorn machine like this one:

Do you know if anyone on here has built a lobby like this? I've seen some amazing ones on MTV cribs before now but they would obviously been a money no object thing.

But when the box of microwaveable stuff runs out,....

Mate you`ve done a great job on this. My home cinema is in a garage conversion of about the same size but i can`t be bothered with all the aesthetics. Bit of matt black paint and some acoustic panels is about as far as i got.
    Thanks

Did you ever sort out those masking strips Phil? If so what did you use?

    Cheers,

    Hi Richard,

    Erm, no

Keep meaning to get it done but it takes up too much valuable film & football watching time

I'll get round to it one day soon though. It's on my To Do list, along with programming my old Pronto.

Amazing job mate. Been reading all evening and measuring my furniture and gear

Can I just ask? What dimensions was the garage/room? Can't seem to find it in the reams of glowing praise :smashin:

Asking cos I'm planning an extension and want to make sure it's right before the builders start

Is it not in the title of the thread? Lol!

Phil, am I right in thinking you were going to use upvc strips for your 2.35:1 masking strips? If so do you have a link to any?

    Cheers

    Thank you very much :)

Richard has already answered your other question :D
Easy mistake though, especially if you're a metric person!
