Decided I'd been spoiling you all too much and wanted to make you all go cold turkey for a while

Well for me I've been wanting something "a bit better - larger sensor - with RAW available" that the TZ for a while and suspected that if I can live with a "puny zoom" the LX5 or XZ-1 might well be the ticket for now and when both came up together it gave me the chance to try both side by side and choose one :)

Probably - depends on how I get on with these two to an extent - still suspect I will miss the extra zoom on occasion....... but look on the bright side - at least my head won't constantly smell of sh!t :rotfl:

Working fine at the moment feels really solid, just really using the auto and EXR modes at the moment to get used to it but taking it everywhere with me so using it a lot more than the DSLR.

If I'm honest though cant see much of a difference between this and the Oly XZ1 other than maybe the super macro is a little easier to use and you have 49 AF points when using in AF and S modes. Not seen the orbs yet but I do little night time photography and if I did I would take the Panny G3 with me anyway.

Surprised you have purchased 2 cameras Jim as were you not trying to get 25p more for your photoshop elements the other night!! Typical Scotsman!!!

See above for explanation - hoping not to have 3 compacts for very long ;)

...and it was all those saved 25p's that paid for them :p - though that extra 25p was really just to make a point ;)

    Glad you're enjoying your X10 :)

Hoping to get the LX5 on Monday if I can sort out a pick up in Glasgow - and hopefully the XZ-1 by middle of the week :)

Probably won't try to sell the TZ for a week or so - just in case :)

The truth is that those shots weren't "from this week", were they, Alowishus? .... They were from your back catalogue, and simply posted this week.

Oh, I see! Now that you've "handed in your notice", you think that you can do what you like. Well you can't. As long as you still own the TZ, you are bound by the rules ... (Your own rules!)

C'mon, get that post down, before "The Committee" has to impose sanctions, ...

    :D

Oh, what a lovely 3 hours I've just spent taking photos... glorious  ... unfortunately, I can't even view them yet.

And ... I don't even have to endure another frigging red wine and snuggle up film session tonight, as we're heading out to the Indian for dinner with friends! :arty:

I was pleased that the background came out as it was....very bright sun blitzed everything out nicely and i left the exposure just a tad over done to make it more effective

    WHY YOU...YOU...YOU.....

Yes... I did so there. Took about a dozen or some with different exposures but liked that one the best as the vase was a reflective, frosted glass one and the best result was a fairly slow exposure.....
