Snap, I ordered early Thursday evening.
Update - just received my 2nd e-mail off Dixons saying that the order is confirmed and that I should receive delivery in 5 working days.
I don't think they will deliver next Tuesday.
I'll ask my children if we can postpone Christmas, just for 24 hours.
....same as above.....2nd email to me....but it did metion going through the dhl NEXT DAY page to check on it....
i reckon we might have them tomorrow....
You've got me hoping now.
But I'm in the middle of painting the living room!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't have a screen yet so more waiting involved.
Can anyone suggest where is the best place to buy a 84" manual screen.
I too have had the email. When I check with DHL by indent code I get that its in transit
My email included the following;
"Items delivered by DHL or Business Post can be tracked online.
For DHL go to http://track.dhl.co.uk/tracking/ . Under "Next Day" Select "by Ident Code" and enter the parcel number under the "From Ident Code"
got mine today went and got it from local PC World who priced matched it with dixons website price only used it quickly but initial impression is
mine on the way too.
hopefully tomorrow although nobody home they may leave with a neighbour, they have in the past
shame i see rainbiws
Decided to go for this after all despite 'pink issues', however the local pc world store would not price match as they say that the Dixons web site shows it to be out of stock.
Although i have a feeling that come the inevitable boxing day sale, it is likely to be reduced from the full price.
andy...do you see rainbows with this projector...or all....?
i went to a shop the other day and saw them with their Infocus IN81 DLP projector...so i am thinking now i cant be doing with DLP projectors, which is a shame because they seem better and cheaper than the LCD ones.
Received HD65 this afternoon.
No screen yet, but had to try it out.
Projected image onto green painted wallpaper, and was very pleasantly surprised by the image.
Must now get a screen.
KERRYBR & Mr Rob T and anyone else who is waiting for their HD65 to be delivered. Let us know what you think of it.
Mine has arrived safely but Santa wont let me use it til Christmas day
Will post comments when I get to use although I am not an AV enthusiast as most of these forums appear to be. So any comments from me will not be highly technical.
I just enjoy watching movies particulary on a large screen.
Just got a HD65 from PC World (price matched to Dixons).
I'm impressed with the picture quality, but I'm seeing rainbows. I'm not sure if this is going to be a problem yet, but just in case, does anybody know the returns policy at PC World?
lol no worries, enjoyment is enjoyment, a lot of us can forget the technical and just enjoy! go for it
mine arrived today ordered sat
very impressive in the dark on matt magnolia wall (?no point in new screen)
very quiet sitting next to it with surround sound on- ps3 and hd sky makes more noise when their fans go
good news no pinkyness with ps3 and ups dvd and hdvd inc 1080p amazing no judder. gaming even better
first PJ only problem some eye strain and seeing odd green red flash with films none at all with games- i will post a novice rv but i do have a LCD and plasma to compare
cool azz, thanks. green flashes? cant they get these darn things right???
Agreed- I think it gave me some eye strain, but I'll test it out a bit more before I decide. I saw the most rainbows when watching a DivX video, but less so when playing the xbox 360 at 720p, so I'm not sure if that is a factor in the appearance of rainbows?
If PC World don't refund me, would anybody be interested in buying the HD65 for £400 + p&p? (probably through ebay) I've used it for about an hour.
Shame really, because it's a great projector.
We've been using a Optoma HD65 for 3 days now and have genuinely not experienced any issues with pink, rainbows, or get eye strain.
Mine is positioned 5 metres from a magnolia wall and really can't find any faults as yet. Watching BBC HD Earth programme with full surround sound is truly impressive.
Well mine arrived Wednesday morning. And due to the time of year etc, so far I spend about 15 mins playing with it last night. I had it connected to my PS3 via HDMI, watched a couple of trailers Die Hard 4, Ice Age 2 and a bit of POT on BR.
But my initial impression was wow, no pink ghosting or Rainbows yet.
Can someone please recommend a good celing or wall mount for the HD65 as I can only find the ones that cost a staggering £65. I might just put a shelf up at the back of the room but if anyone has any other ideas I'd be glad to hear. I'm due to get a 10 metres HDMI cable delivered today so position is fairly flexible as I can go under floor and up the wall.
i wanted to put a shelf up as well, but i'm getting the impression that if it isnt at a mid height ie not at the top of the wall, the piccure will end up on the ceiling....i dont want to build a shelf only to have to turn the thing upside down...
is there a way to do this...
ps this is my first projector...apologies for a really daft question if this is one...
update on flashes: green/red
see them when turn head away from screen and then towards and also if blink or move eyes around the screen.
good news - much less with better signal and bright scenes . went to see .
i went to a projection place - optama hd80 and sim2 projector same flashes and pq no better infact looked worse to me.
conclusion - my eyes are the problem ( i do have a slight squint which may be making me moore probe )and probably noticing this so called rainbow effect other than that awsome pj
Opted for a Vogel's ceiling support in the end http://vogels.com/detail.asp?ISSAID=576&ParentID=34&ChildID=84&PlineId=0
It fits the HD65 and was fairly simple to put up after figuring out the instruction booklet (a lesson in how to over complicate a bracket). The downside to the Vogels support is the price, it cost £84 from Microdirect, but at least its up there and doing its job.
Has anyone else been able to get this attached to the universal proj from avprojectorlamps?
I have seen it packaged with the hd70 and it has the same screw type (m3), but none of the screws that came packaged will screw in.
Also, some pictorial instructions would also be a bonus if anyone has seen any (maybe i'm just a bit thick!)
cheers for any help
I got my ceiling mount from ebay over a year ago for an epson but it fits my optoma 720.
I just did an ebay.co.uk search using ... universal projector mount .....
I couldn't find the one I bought but there are some that look like the expensive one's from the link that frosty predator posted.
Did PC world take it back mate?
