From Blu-Ray.com - I found the below and apparently harder to make reguin free for blu ray

    @nametag (& KingLeonidas300):
Quote: "the most universal and easily region-modifiable player". Not anymore, unfortunately. JVBDigital has currently only managed to make this one region-free for DVD, but NOT for BD yet. This new player seems a lot harder to work with than the former one, and many others for that matter. More resources (R&D hours) are needed, but no ETA can be given, unfortunately (according to JVBDigital).

I think I saw that quote myself. Wasn't that dated a couple of weeks ago? Either way, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed as the minute some wonderful human being does come up with a solution to make it MR my order is going in.

Yeh I think there is a fair chance I'll be waiting for the 95  as long as the wait isn't too long, or the price too high :suicide:

Anyone got any ideas on which streaming features are likely to be included? :)

I wouldn't expect the streaming features to be anywhere near those of a dedicated media player, or the firmware updates to be as frequent for adding new formats etc. I would think that I will be keeping my Dune Prime for streaming and mainly use the 93/95 for DVD-A/SACD and perhaps playing BD/DVD discs that I haven't yet ripped.

Has anyone in the UK/EU recieved one of these players yet?

    Oppo UK

Been reading an American thread on a blu-ray forum been a giggle and informative...

Like others, I would prefer a Blu-Ray region modified player!

I'm not really sure how much "real world" performance info that "review" provides. The ABT2010/2015 isn't particularly great with 2:2 cadence i.e. PAL/HD interlaced yet looking at the "tests" one would assume it was. Similarly Denon's implementation of the same AISC is hobbled by lack of forced cadence support for 2:2 film. I would also guess Winston's comments based on DVD performance was using NTSC based material not PAL which in inherently more difficult.

I'd wait for a more detailed in depth review including PAL performance before reaching any conclusions.

Not reaching any conclusions at all just posting a users review of a comparison against a similar type spec !

And just noting of not much huge diff in DVD upscaling compared to 83 as my collection is mostly NTSC .

    I wouldn't expect a huge difference. :)

Beyond identifying the correct cadence more of the time there is unlikely to a huge difference with DVD. From my own observation of QDEO/VRS product the scaling algorithms used have similar goals and artefact byproducts. The VRS noise reduction and image enhancement isn't particularly refined and the QDEO improves on this. The QDEO also has a wider range of "enhacement possibilities" than VRS but it appears Oppo as elected not to implement these. These could "differentiate" the image look but that may not be a good thing.

I was waiting for a 7005, which has now been renamed as the 7006 before it was even launched. Marantz have done me a favour though as I've still got the money in the bank so can buy an Oppo 95 instead :smashin: And the Oppo will stream FLAC files whereas the Marantz won't.

Looks like Nuforce will be offering a modified 93 and 95 plus a further upgrade for existing 83 owners. Here what was said by Nuforce -

"OPPO BDP-93 Nuforce Edition is done and in production. We will demo it at CES 2011. Come and hear how this player rival a $10,000 CD player sound quality. We designed the audio board from the ground up, not modified from OPPO board.

    There will be several versions:
BDP-93NE, 93 Nuforce Xtreme Edition (NXE) and 95 NXE.
We didn't leave out the 83 customers. A special 83NXE upgrade board will be available for 83 customers at a much lower price.

This is an early announcement and final plan could change as we are still working on NXE.
We will post technical descriptions in the next few days."

when is word likely to come regarding the multiregion blu-ray element, do we know if anyone is actually working on it yet or any other info?

also one of the suppliers is offering all kinds of upgrades?

since im not technical enough to understand all that stuff, i will let someone else tell me what it all means?

    oppo 93 upgrades

im assuming it just means that the standard components of the machine, are upgraded to provide better performance and split into 3 distinct levels of upgrade for the machine, with each level being slightly superior to the last!

True, very expensive, but the good news that I am taking from this is that it can be done which is just great news. Woo hoh.

Now I've just got to go sell some blood. And a kidney.

Now CRT Projectors are no longer selling Oppo, I have been looking around and considering a 93 (Thinking about a 95, but wonder if the audio upgrade will be CD only ?) I hope to have an X7 or 990 in Feb, so the Oppo would be to allow 3D replay too. Even through I may only watch one or two 3D films, seems silly not to have this if I but an X7

Not sure on bass management either ?

    Seems Jan supply is possible:

Henry that owned/ran CRT is now officially OPPO UK - OPPO BD UK. You still have the option to buy direct or via the dealers listed on the Oppo UK site.

The company in your link is supplied by Oppo UK (see where to buy on the above website). The player you linked is only MR for DVD but locked to region B for Blu-ray.

Bass management operates on the same principle as the Denon 3800/Pio LX91 the xover applies to all channels but is no longer fixed. There are still some limitations on relative channel distances i.e. center must be <=L/R etc.
