a bit controversial....
If it had been .....
But tbh the athletes entrance has beeen pretty cool..
USA Kobe Bryant can't wait for the basketball
Michael phelps swimming
Big big team
OMG...did the queen just look bored!!!! ***
She frigging sucks
Im sorry but...massive event..look interested for gods sake!!!
That summed up the "monachy" in its current state to me
The UK taxpayers have helped to spend billions on the olympics only for 'her maj' to look at her nails....
As has been said in previous posts.....WHY the french language first!!!!!!!!!.we are ENGLISH..this is in an ENGLISH city....I dont get it
Give her some credit mate. Name another Queen that would jump out of a helicopter for her country!!!!! ;0)
Yeah..but without Bond......
Let the games commence
london/GB should be proud
Fantastic and the torch wowsers
Bit of a cop out letting a bunch of kids light the flame. Should have let the legends do it.
Agreed...what a way to light the flame...lets hope Team GB can do the business
Def should have been Redgrave would have accepted Daley too
I agree with the way they done it........Its about time we stopped reminiscing and go forward
The ethos of these games are to inspire a generation so I think it fitted in well having the legends nominate the next generation. Bloody fantastic.....I was lucky to get to see a rehearsal Monday and in the stadium it brought a tear to my eyes.
Now looking forward to my volunteer shifts at beach volletball
Aren't the actually games themselves things going foward.
The honor of lighting the flame should be done by people who deserve it and have achieved something rather than dished out willy nilly.
Or should we take into account that she is 86 and sitting there for hours on end looking excited probably isnt easy..............
So easy to criticize, how about just for a moment we all just enjoy being British and stop ****ing moaning!!
I understand where you are coming from but when you look at where the flame has travelled and who has carried it... can you define 'deserved'.
As a lot of the journey of the flame were by celebs who had achieved nothing... only a handful of true achievers carried it.
So I agree...passing the flame from the 'achieved' to the hopefuls.
Because the modern Olympics was founded by a Frenchman
Exactly, it's French first because it is the Olympic movement language. At every games announcements are made in French then English and then the home language
Id blame the director for that shot. Probably the only time she actually did that. Or the only chance he had, other times she wasnt there, picking her nose, smoking a pipe, asleep, reading a book. Smile and wave for goodness sake.
Those children will have the memory for the rest of their lives. Seem cool to me.
So where's that cauldron going to go. I thought it now has to be on display and positioned in the stadium some where and lit throughout the games? It can't stay there in the middle.
Do it your way and I doubt you would last two hours.
She is 86 and the consumate proffesional at this.
I thought it was that French was the second must spoken language in the world?
Bonkers, brilliant and very British. Bravo Mr Boyle. You bought a lump to this Englishman's throat. Loved it.
