Most of my AV kit is Piano black and although I love it I decided Walnut would break it up a bit. Wood always has a classic look IMO, but no matter what you choose they all are superbly finished.

Walnut is the way forward...
Also much less dust issues than piano black I rarely clean mine
They also match my brown leather sofas and the wife likes em.
Is this walnut or rosenut? Walnut in RX series is bit darker imo.
I looked at the black gloss and they do look superb, but the sales guy said they were forever cleaning them.I guess that's pretty normal in a shop though. So I guess if you have a flock of kids etc they may need regular cleaning
Having myself no experience with gloss color I would be afraid that after some years the gloss could loose its shiny bright. Maybe I am wrong.
Most reputable manufacturers use around 6-8 layers of lacquer, so avoiding direct sunlight and making sure they are looked after should yield many years of shiny shiny. Don't use any furniture polish, a lint free duster should be enough to keep the dust at bay, although anything in gloss black is a magnet for the stuff.
I am asking this in other thread, but what is difference between black gloss and piano black (difference between silver and gold series?).
Hi, i am quite new to this but just needed some advice as i am facing one of the hardest descisions i have had to face.
I have recently upgraded my amp from a sony str-da 3300es to the denon avr 2310. I had some pretty old B&W 601,602,603 and cc6 center used with my sony reciever.
The missus has let me upgrade the whole system but cant decide which speakers to go for.
I have made my mind up to definately go for The RX range but i am having trouble deciding which.
I have got A BK xls300/pr subwoofer and the rx center already. This is where i am having trouble. I was looking at having the rx8 for fronts and rears (so two pairs) but as i have read i imagine it will be a massive overkill for the size of the room (3x5 meters.)
So now do i go for Two pairs of rx6's for both front and rear or do i go for rx8's at the front and rx2's at the back (i have yet to demo the rx2's yet but i have read good thing.)
I wiuld say i am more into films than music. Probably 60% to 40%.
Anyway sorry about the length of the post but i just need some inspiration as to which direction i should go.
Thanks
hi, thanks for the quick response.
I think maybe the RX8's will be a bit of an overkill in the room and i dont really like the fact they run at 4 ohms really. I know the denon will be fine with it but i dont really want to risk it.
what did you mean by have the sub and the rs8's crossevere'd at 60hz? Is that when the sub will kick in or the sub will take more of the load?? Sorry if that is a lame question but i am rather new to the home cinema stuff.
i am swaying towards either the rx6's both front and rear or rx6 at the front and stand mounted rx2's at the back.
Any idea wether that would be alright or lack the depth from the floor standers at the back?
Thanks
I have been to my local Hifi shop and had a demo on the rx6's and the rx2's. I was absolutly amazed by the sound that came out of the rx2's.
