First post on this forum so any help very much appreciated.

    I have a 2002 3.0 V6 sport Jaguar x type.

It has an audio unit with only a CD player and radio (no cassette, no climate control or sat nav).

I want to use it with my ipod.

I have tried the FM transmitters but being a bit of an audiophile they are very poor quality.

Can any forum members advise me on the best way to link the i-pod to this system?

Thanks in advance if you can help.

Hi mate, might be worth checking out the connects2 kits, they basically plug in the CD changer input of your cdplayer and you can control/charge the ipod through the stereo. this link in for the s-type but with a bit of snooping i think you may be able to find an x-type variant,
Jaguar Connects2 iPod Car Adapter | Dension ice>Link Plus iPod Car Kit | iPod Car Kit Direct

alternatively you could just replace the standard head unit for one with an aux input so you could plug it straight in!

Hope this helps and feel free to give me a shout should you ned any more advice!

The X Type has a fibre optic system for connecting the audio bits and pieces and I don't believe there is a suitable aftermarket system other than Jaguar's own ACM (audio connectivity module - or something like that). I remember paying around £300 for the dealer to fit this in the central armrest. Not sure if they are still available or if you can get hold of a second hand one.
They were not always trouble free either.

Thank you for the replies folks.

I have read about the Jaguar ACM but for the reasons ash72 mentions I didn't pursue it.

I think I'll go with macspecialist's advice and just replace the head unit.

Thanks again for the replies - appreciated.
