    Hi
    I have an HTC One
Normally, with all my old phones, I've just plugged in the usb cable and the computer recognises the phone as external storage. Simples
Every time I plug in my ONE I get USB device not recognised and can't do anything.
I suspect this is simple to fix, but i'm a cretin with these things.
I have a laptop, not a mac btw
    Any help much appreciated
    thanks

Mine worked ok, downloaded drivers from the phone direct if I remember correctly, have you tried a different usb port and are you definitely using the cable supplied with phone?
    • Thanks Thanks x 1

Poo, what are you trying to do? I've started using ESfile something to transfer files from my phone to network hdd, same system would work for transferring to computer, albeit more slowly than direct connection.

What operating system does your pc have?

All I want is to have the phone appear as an external hard drive so I can pull my photos on to my computer
    using firefox
I was assuming it was just a case of a bit of software missing?

Why Firefox? Can you not just open my computer and click and drag the 100media folder over? To be fair my phone only shows as an extra device there and not a standard removable drive but still acts in the same way. Also, remember your 23gb free dropbox account

Doesn't have to be firefox. Think a lack of punctuation made my reply unclear there. lol
The problem is that it doesn't detect my phone at all.

Does your phone detect connection to the computer?

Mine comes up with a message about usb debugging

Edit - advice online is to download the HTC sync manager and see if this resolves

Only other advice I'd have if the sync manager doesn't work is to try connecting the HTC to any other device with a USB input, a different laptop or xbox etc?

The phone has no reaction at all.
I have tried synch manager to no avail.
Thanks for trying, but looks like i'll have to keep doing it the slightly longer winded way

    Hi KIzKiz,
Did you get this fixed?? I have a HTC One S that I used to be able to plug into a PC and could instantly drag down pictures etc. Now the PC (several PC's) will not recognise it as a 'Drive' so cannot access the phone to get the photo's. Any solutions or ideas?? I have contacted HTC about a week ago with no response as yet.........
I have downloaded HTS Sync with no success. Just want it back as before :)
