doesnt look nothing like an HD2.
So, it does then?
With the massive popularity of the HTC Hero, and the interest in the specs of the HD2 it's only a matter of time before HTC combine the HD2 with Android. Whether or not this is it only time will tell, but I'd fully expect to see something released in the next 6 months.
Just because it looks different on the outside, doesn't mean it's not the same on the inside.
Play.com had it yesterday for £489.99 now £499.99 11th november http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/12041710/HTC-HD-2-Sim-Free-Unlocked-5-0-Megapixel-Mobile-Phone/Product.html
Hahaha, was I right or was I right? See I knew it would be released soon with the flood of news and photos that cropped up. Looks very nice I must say, but I'll stick to me smaller iPhone.
Yay for multitouch capacitive screen!! Fantastic HTC.
Here's an unboxing vid, nice green?
And the phone is confirmed to be launched later this month in parts of Europe according to mobile burn. So seeing as it's a popular bugger with you lot (No idea why ) I would say stock available in the first 2 weeks of November? But then again Expansys has a release date of November 11th?
So this month you have Satio, HD2 and Palm Pre to pick from, not to mention SE's Rachel on November 3rd!! Phew.
Phone looks amazing. It's just so bloomin big. And that is putting me off
Depends what your used to. Ive had an iphone for nearly 3 years and the HD2 isnt much bigger so its not an issue for me. In fact the main drawing point for me is the screen size!
I think the i phone is reasonable however I do think even though it only looks a little bit bigger it will feel massive.
How does the HD2 compare with the galaxy size wise. Just trying to get a comparison as I thought the Galaxy was ridiculously big
I was in a T-Mobile shop in Hemel Hempstead today, who confirmed that they have just started to get all information about the phone and it is going to be out on the 6th Nov.
dilema. should i get a iphone for nearly £200 on contract or should i upgrade to this device for free and buy a itouch for £230?
"One fly in the ointment however is the 512MB of native memory aboard. Windows Marketplace apps can currently only install on native memory so it won't matter if you have a 32GB microSD card or not, you could well run out of space pretty quickly. Bad Microsoft, bad! "

That's not good...
Is there no way to install an app on the native memory and then move it to a card?
Personally I won't be planning on installing a huge amount of apps, so it's not too big an issue for me, but I can see how this could become a major pitfall of this phone. I also don't understand why manufacturer's still put such pitiful internal memory in their phones given that the price of memory is so low now, why not start with a basic 8GB which you can then add to?
If you're already thinking about Apps and you're buying an iPod Touch anyway, put the money towards an iPhone and keep everything in one device.
That's one of the reasons I've kinda gone off this phone and just ordered a sim-free Hero after weeks of deliberation.
To be honest the HD2s form factor puts me off as well, not it's size...it's shape. To me looks are as important as how well a mobile performs and ease of use and the HD2 to my mind just looks like a monolithic black plastic slab with no real thought put in to its design...I'll reserve judgement until I've seen one when they finally arrive in the shops....whereas the Hero with the "chin" to my eyes looks great having seen it in the flesh.
I also fancied a change from Win mobile and think the Android Hero UI is extremely well thought out.
I have a 2nd gen Apple Touch so I'm not excited by the iPhone.
Really interesting video on WinMob 6.5 which is going to be on the HD2

Wanted to ask a couple questions, didnt want to create a new thread or anything but anyway.
Now im entitled to a free upgrade by orange soon, although originally i thought 'great, i want the hero' now with the hd2 buzz coming round ive been thinking of signing on with another contract to get this phone.
But my main point is what is the major differences between the 2?? i have heard the obvious android v windows, but other than that is there any main differences between the 2? i seem to heading back to the hero side after hearing that they will be getting the new android 2.0
Thanks in advance folks
HD2 has faster processor, 5mb camera + flash
there are roumors of an "andriod" version of this out nxt yr i think it called the HTC dragon or passion.
I have the hero & love it, if your not botherd about camera as thats the main drawback.
Got mine on sim free & didnt want to be tied in to any contract so i can see what the new models are like nxt yr
Only a couple of days till the phone is released.
is that with o2? latest i heard is thats been pushed back till 16th november. T-mobie however are expecting it to be released on the 6th november.
Yeah T-Mobile. They said for me to call them on Monday to double check stock levels and to pre-order for delivery for the 6th,
Did you talk to them today ?
Was it the loyalty team/retentions you spoke to ?
oh, let us know how you get on on monday. I'm looking to go with T-mobile
Yeah I will do.
Rumour has it that CPW will have the phone on Monday, which I can upgrade to.
might have to pop down to my local carphonewarehouse on monday haha
Just done some calling around my local CPW, 3 of them didn't know what the phone was, 2 tried to tell me it was the HTC Touch 2.. then the other one said they are coming out and they are getting them in a week...
phone isnt even listed under coming soon on their website *sigh* looks like we might have to wait till 11th november
I asked in CPW earlier in the week, the guy didn't know about the phone, but said he wouldn't be surprised if they did get it in after the other HTCs they've had sold well... then he checked on the computer and said it's scheduled to be in stock mid/end of November, and to definitely come back to him...

down for 6th november. maybe tmobile stores will get them first ahead of carphonewarehouse?
T-Mobile have confirmed to me and a couple of other people who have posted in this thread that they will be getting it on the 6th. T-Mobile will be the first UK network to have the phone as the phones which were due to be out on O2 had some sort of software issue.
Would have preferred a unlocked one and earlier from CPW, but it doesn't really bother me waiting an extra 5 days.
