I can't find my normal PSP charging lead, so will have to charge via my USB.
Do you have to have the PSP on or off when charging?
It is currently off, with the power led lit up, is it charging?
I did have it plugged in earlier whilst switched on, and chose USB option in the menu, the battery icon seemed to be flashing, but non of the battery bars seemed to be filling.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks In Advance:)
    EDIT:
Sussed it, PSP has to be turned off!!

Not strictly true. A PSP will charge from USB even if you are playing it, it will just take longer to charge.

I take it you are using a split USB/Power lead?

Game do the USB/power lead for £6.99 on it's own, or as part of various kits (with screen protectors etc).

Alternatively, choose an ebay auction carefully (be wary of postage) and get one for £3-4.

The PSP can be on or off while plugged in but in my experience it seems to only extend battery life rather than actually charge it if you're playing. Still that's better than nowt!

    Cheers

It takes nearly 8 hours to charge mine when one bar on the battery indicator is showing to full via USB. I plug it in at work at about 8:15 and it finishes somewhere around 4pm.

Hi guys this thread was the first result from google! I wanna charge my PSP-1000 via USB as have lost the power lead, looks like it can only be done from the 2000 onwards unfortunately.

If anyone knows different, please post!

    Hi,

I have a launch day PSP and as per my previous post I can charge it via USB, the earlier ones have a USB lead that plugs into the computer and on the other end is the mini USB and the charging plug, the PSP doesn't charge via its mini USB socket.

I got my lead from ebay years ago
