I'm wondering if I'll get hit with customs charges or not because an option at the check out for international customers at the Big Bad Toy Store is to mark items as a gift which as I understand removes customs charges

Just pre-ordered Batman! Gulp, what have I done?? lol

At least I've got time to save up. If I put away £25 a month until then that'll be alright.

Getting the Bale Batman as well. I've never bought such "expensive" figures before. Had a few Sideshow but the most expensive was £60 so this is another league for me! :smashin:

Bale Bats is going to be a 30th birthday present. :)

I'd like Reeve Superman as well and it would maybe make sense to get two completely different figures since they're not really affordable but I just love the idea of having one generation of Batman side by side. :D

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the threshold before you have to start paying for VAT is currently £18 soon to be lowered to £15 and if the item is a gift then it moves up to £40.

    How are import charges calculated?

Well I can finally go to sleep now, just bought Batman & Joker from Goodshipped on eBay for £347 delivered. Had been saving up for a rainy day and I guess it just poured today. :D

I think the current release date is still at least 6 months away. :(

I hope they release a Bob & Vicky Vale figure to go with Batman & Joker.

Ordered my Jack Joker, which can be displayed alongside my Heath Joker - I think with my T2 Arnie, that'll be where my collection ends! It's too expensive! I'll be selling my MkIII Iron Man, as there's just too many to collect. Taking the Michael!

Not sure what any of that means but I'd bet it's still cheaper than getting it from any store in the UK which are just a joke with their prices (looking at £400 for both of these)

I know I was a little shocked by the final prices to be honest.

As an easy calculation for the customs...

Price including shipping in £ x 20% VAT = payable VAT.

i.e. - $250 values of product including shipping.
    Rate of Exchange - 1.6

    Value for Customs - £157 x 20%

Total VAT Payable - £32 (ish)

Then you'll get a fee from Fedex / UPS / Parcel Farce which normally works out about £10

So all in you'll be looking at about £40 give or take.

Again that's just an example but basically that's all you need to know :)

They are very expensive, but like Neil said if you pay $250 (£153) + £40 Tax + Fee you are nearly paying the £200 per item threshold that the UK shops are going to charge.

The only reason I went with my eBay supplier is he marks the item cost very low to customs so I don't get charged any fees when they arrive in the UK so in total I will pay £347. The gamble is if they go missing or get damaged you don't have a leg to stand on, but out of all the things I have ordered so far they have arrived OK (so far touch wood).

Do they mark the price down as well?

Think all but one or 2 of my hot toys have came from china/Japan and they Mark the item down to slip though customs.

have to agree these are getting a bit too expensive and are now getting to around the price that sideshow's premium formats used to be a couple of years ago, like did they really need the DX label or is that an excuse to charge more?

but did really like the film so have just ordered both from OSB :smashin:

Almost put an order with them myself but haven't got the money for them now and I doubt it'll be that much cheaper than sticking with my BBTS order (even with customs & UPS fees)

March cant come sooner enough

    You wont be sorry.

Waiman is all kinds of awesome :)

As I said in the other thread if I had the cash ready I'd be ordering from OSB again but I need the flex pay option offered by Collectibles Direct on these due to the upcoming expense of the Premium Format Joker so don't have all the funds available right now & might not on release either :(

Shame as I can't recommend OSB enough.

I put my order in with OSB last week for both figures. Don't forget you can choose the layaway option with OSB.

Firstly wow no comments in this thread since September

Secondly Bats is shipping in the next 30 days according to the latest SSC newsletter

I ended up going with OSB for my order but unfortunately as I went with their Bats/Joker combo offer I'll only get one when they're both ready to go :(

This is one figure I didn't want a long wait for :(

Yeah I doubt we'll be seeing him until early March in the UK given 30 days for the US would be mid Feb. tbh I cant help but think shipping in the next 30 days for the US is a bit hopeful given there's usually about a month in between a figure hitting HK and then the rest of the world

I want it ASAP as I paid up full for both Batman & Joker.
I got mine coming from Hong Kong via eBay, so will wait and see what happens.

There's a massive difference between Promo shots (AKA Bullshots) and a standard photo of the thing on display. It'll be the same cape material just not Ironed out or sumthin like that.

If the head and cape can be taken off that's fine. I'll just put mine under some books for a night. :p

More interestingly in that photo you can see the Batmobile behind him and the machine guns are out
