Thanks for a great review. The picture quality on the existing version is pretty good but this is even better? Extra's state the 8K version was done in 2004 so not an upgrade then?
The Hattie McDaniel episode at the Oscar ceremony is, when you consider the theme of the film, more than a bit ironic. Almost 100 years after the war's end there was still segregation in parts of the South.

I think you'll find this is the existing version. We're just doing a bunch of 'retro' reviews to cover all the AFI Top 100 titles we haven't covered yet. Next up is Pulp Fiction!

Yup, that Oscar ceremony nonsense was ridiculous. I just don't get the logic of handing out an Oscar to somebody you're then going to treat as inferior. But I guess logic doesn't really come into it.
