    Good morning!

We have a CD6000 standard fit CD/Radio head unit i our 2002 Ford Focus but recently the radio has stopped receiving radio reception; all other functions on the unit such as CD palyback work fine. There doesn't seem to be any damage to the ariel either.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar in a Focus, I'm thinking a wire may have come loose but I admit my knowledge on this type of thing is very limited.

    Any advice appreciate.

    Thanks.:D

also check theres no signs of water ingress from the aerial, (warranty wont cover water ingress after the 1st 12 months either BTW)

Is your ariel still on the roof?

I pulled the unit out and all the wires are secure, including the ariel cable.

How can I check for water ingress from the ariel? A coroded connection there may explain it as I can't see how any internal wiring could have got dislodged ??

I was hoping it was going to be simple !

    Any advice appreciated.

If you have a built in type check your fuse for the rear demister etc. Is the ciggy lighter working?

    You need to establish

    a: Is there a conenction

    b: is the ariel working.

a@ run a meter along the connector plate ( ariel to car roof)

b: try putting a screwdriver in the "hole" and see if it picks up a channel.

Also is the ariel a roof mounted or a windscreen mounted one.

Yep, could be a faulty head unit. If the aerial wire is plugged in you should be picking up something even if the aerial is damaged.

    Thanks for last two replies.

The ciggy lighter is working, plus the CD function of the head unit is ok so I don't suspect it's a fuse otherwise the CD wouldn't work(?)

You're right though, I would have expected even a bad reception if the ariel was damaged in some way. If it's disconnected in a hidden area a screw driver or other improvised ariel may confirm that.

    Thanks again.

    You could try very simple.

REMOVE HEADUNIT AND PUT A SMALL SCREWDRIVER IN HOLE. IT WILL PICK UP A STATION. IF NOT THEN ITS FAULTY! sugar, caps sorry guys.

and if the units faulty and you have to get a new one from ford, who will then go through visteon, then good look! ;)

oh and make sure you take any cd's out of the players or your likely to never see them returned either
