Does anybody have a Lg 50PH670V 60PH670V ?

As above, apart from the motion blur (which I have yet to determine the cause of), can't fault the set, especially for the price

Just ordered the 50" inch, been reading the reviews JJmurphy21187, and no one mentions blur.

When is it being delivered Adam? Would like to hear your review. Thanks

I ordered it on Thursday via Richersounds free delivery (4-7 working days), I ordered the one with 5 year warranty this my first plasma so I might not be the most accurate of reviews but I will try to show it off fairly.

AG-S350 Seem to be suggests these are the correct 3D glasses anyone confirm?

Apologies for the delay and please bear with me as this is my first plasma TV, only my 2nd HD TV so forgive my naivety!

Firstly the screen is quite reflective (as with all plasmas), and as such needs to be viewed with curtains closed preferably at night. Anyone reading this will no doubt know this already. The external design is great, it's one of the main reasons I chose this over the Samsung 5000 which is £50 more. It sits fairy low rather than standing on top of a large 4-pronged base which means it is at a better eye-level on my TV stand.

I've gone through the basic calibration with Spears & Munsil v2 twice since the weekend, so not sure what difference it has made but the colours and blacks look great. This is compared to my 5 year old mid-rang Philips LCD so is probably not a great review in terms of other plasma TVs... The opening credits for Casino Royale (BR) looked fantastic, colours were vibrant but not overpowering and the blacks looked very black.

My only quibble is the apparent motion blur which is visible on panning scenes and with any fast on-screen movement. Turning on the 'TruMotion' makes it smoother but blurs the edges of the moving object so is not really a solution. I opted for plasma for the better colours, blacks and supposed blur-free motion. Can anyone tell me if this is normal for a new plasma or if I should be expecting more from the TV? I'm not sure if I've set my standards too high for a £1k 60" TV, as I understood it was an inherent property of plasma displays to give (almost) blur-free viewing, and this to me seems quite frequent. I have read that it can be caused by phosphor lag initially until the screen is run in, but by that point I will be out of my 7 day return period...

The smart functions are fairly standard, having used a PS3 previously the BBC iplayer app and similar is much the same. I haven't been able to get a good enough reception with my ariel to test the TV receiver (same with old TV, maybe non-digi ariel?), need to extend my sat cable to test the freesatHD...

Response times on menus are infinitely better than my previous Philips, which was notably bad. Also there are professional calibration settings available for anyone who has the know-how to calibrate the TV properly.

I noticed when watching some films that when there is no picture output to the screen the panel turns off completely, which enhances the look of the black (obviously). The issue comes when the image flicks between a blank image and a blank image with something small in the middle (credits for example), and the screen acts as if it is flickering on and off. Sometimes this effect works well, i.e. between scenes there is no light output from the panel, but you notice it on the end credits etc. There may be a setting to turn this off but I haven't found it yet.

If it wasn't for the motion blur I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this TV, but I'm hoping for some feedback from some more experienced plasma users as to whether this is normal or not... maybe I am particularly susceptible to it?

If anyone has any specific questions let me know and I will answer as best I can!

I use to own a LG 42PA4500. Cracking plasma set! Loved it!
LG plasma are great but nothing compared to Panasonic. I would say it's great for price compared to a Panasonic Plasma set. SAMSUNG are good with Plasma too but they have more of a capacitor problems (early 2012 models). Can't say much about the 2013 Plasma models but will be getting a SAMSUNG Plasma TV soon.

Right in terms of ghosting/motion blur etc. What you need to do is set picture mode to game, tweak the the colours to your liking, disable (completely OFF!);
- trumotion
- noise filter
- noise reduction
- MPEG Noise Reduction
- Eye Care
- Motion Eye Care

Thanks. Any reason why I should select 'game' and not 'standard'/'ISF Calibrated' with the same settings & all the image processing disabled?

Think game gives better motion. Not sure though. You could give standard a try.

How did you get on with the telly in the end? Any improvement on the motion blur? I'm really tempted to go and get this as Currys are doing 5% cashback through quidco at the moment as well. Oh and its payday today!

Does it have freesat HD built in?

Yes freesat HD is built in. Although it doesn't order the channels in any meaningful way, nor does it filter our all the ones which require subscription... which makes channel hopping pointless :-/

On a plus note, the USB interface will play .mkv files and output DTS via optical lead to your AVR (if this wasn't known before?)

I agree no channel order in freesat My Humax freesat just enter your postcode give you the channels for your own reagion

So for those that have the set, would you still buy it now you have had it a while?

Ok so bit the bullet and went and bought it, so far really impressed. Avengers Assemble on Netflix is pretty amazing. No lag there at all. Not spent too much time on th DTV or FreeSat yet. The screen is quite reflective but expected that. So far im impressed especially coming from a 6 year old toshiba 32" telly!!

Hey Euan, glad to see another review did you buy the 50 or the 60? On a scale of 1 to 10 how reflective is the screen when the tv is on? Thanks mate

Hi i bought the 50" Mission Control would have flipped if id got the 60! Its hard to say really on a scale of 1 to 10 as this is the biggest tv I've had and the first plasma. We have quite a bright living room and a bay window at one end and french doors at the other. Compared to my 6 year old matt lcd set then maybe an 8 but i dont think thats a fair comparison really. It did pick up reflections during dark scenes but other than that didn't bother me.

Have managed to sort out the freesat channels by renumbering them to some sort of order to be able to flcik through them quickly.

It does have the occasional lock up if you sit in a settings menu too long, and im not sure if the wifi keeps turning off or the remote app on my tablet is playing up. Need to monitor that. I also got two months free of Currys breakdown cover so i'll give it a good run in and check everything

Ok cool thanks for the feedback I think I'm defo gona buy the 60 inch in the next few months. Does the tv load up quick when being turned on?

Yeah it loads up really quick no complaints there, did a full reset of the set today and so far the wifi has stayed on so no problems there. Mission Control did comment on how reflective the screen is on dark/black scenes i think it just takes getting used to. I had the hobbit on 3d earlier and it was mint, as long as i let my eyes relax and watch the film. If i noticed the reflection i kind of tuned into that if you know what i mean.

Oh and dont have any motion blur so far

Has anyone used the pentouch to draws pics or create anything? Can't find the lg pens anywhere do you think you can use anything?

Haven't used that feature yet. Not sure I'd ever have a need to? I guess if it was wall mounted it would be good for pictionary or something??

Anyone actually found one to buy anywhere? On a different subject anyone got a recommendation for a sound bar. Have been looking at the LG 353a but not very clued up on any of them.

Is there a shortcut to bring up the programme list/epg? Rather than going into the smart menu all the time. Im quite tempted to get the normal remote as well.

How does this compare to the Samsung PS51F5500? I'm going to have to get something around this price point (£700 Max) and the PH660V or Samsung look like the best options really but LG plasmas used to be awful , are they any better or do they still have crap blacks and awful IR?

Ta

I cant really compare it to any other tellys other than my 6 year old Toshiba 32" LCD but i havnt got a problem with the picture quality at all. It does show up any flaws though such as the BT vision box looks crap so im sticking to the freesat for the time being. Blurays and Netflix (which seems better through the PS3 but that could be because its the US version) is top quality. 3d is really impressive.

Been and got the LG 3530 soundbar and sub and its excellent. The whole thing is wireless which was a bonus and linkking it all was easy. Again though i don't have anything to compare it with, but the kids are watching 3d despicable me and not heard a peep for the last hour!

hi everyone!
what about samsung 3d glasses ssg-p51002 and ph670 compatible? :)

Can anyone post some pics please so I can get an idea what the pq/blacks (grays?) are like

Ta
