Die Hard 5 - A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)

Baddie Rumor

- The Gruber's are back, this time in form of a evil sister, sibling of brothers Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) & Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons)

I hope they don't stick with the 'Die Hard 24/7' name which has raised it's head again, as i mentioned it sounds like a convenience store..maybe for drug addicts.

it'll probably be renamed to Die Hard 5 in the UK regardless of the US title, like the 4th one was renamed to Die Hard 4.0

I wonder if Justin whateverhisnameis would appear in a 5th film..

They are talking also about Die Hard 6. It's called Die Semi With A Viagra.

& let's not forget part 7, using Forrest Gump-style technology to insert McClane into old George Formby movies:

Die Hard With A Banjo

(I'll get my coat)

The plot I want to see is Bruce Willis breaking John McTiernan out of jail.

I enjoyed 4.0 but is Bruce too old now for more DH sequels?

Well Stallone is getting his second wind with Expendables 1 & 2.
Harrison may have another Indy film in a few years too!

Bruce knows he is not getting any younger hence wants to do DH5 & maybe 6 sooner than later.

that maybe true but are they too old for an action heavy movie?

Ford (as much as I liked Indy 4) is well past it, Not seen Expendables YET but I feel we need new action stars. Even Asia still relies on old past it heavyweights like Chan, Li &Yen(okay Yen isn't quite past it but not far off) ...& like Hollywood have no replacements ready to step up...Besides Jaa.

for me new blood needs to step in.

There's plenty of younger guys around though, with the likes of Jason Statham, The Rock, Vin Diesel, Will Smith, Ryan Reynolds, Christian Bale, Daniel Craig, Gerard Butler, all capable of doing a decent action movie.

Allegedly Century Fox was “less than thrilled” with Skip Woods (The A-Team, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Hitman) recent script draft for DH5.

Meanwhile Bruce Willis is interviewing directors himself, one of the names is Daniel Espinosa, a Swedish filmmaker who is currently making his English-language debut with the Denzel Washington & Ryan Reynolds CIA thriller Safe House.

Update - Director Noam Murro is to helm Die Hard 5.

20th Century Fox will set Israeli Noam Murro to direct the film that has been scripted by Skip Woods. They will continue to develop the script. While Murro directed the Sarah Jessica Parker-starrer Smart People for Miramax. Murro really impressed Fox brass with his most recent campaign for the Halo video game ("Deliver Hope", below). He's a five time DGA nominated commercials director, won two Golden Lions at Cannes and is taking a big leap up to one of Fox's most important projects. The studio still has to make a deal with Bruce Willis, but he has publicly expressed excitement about reprising his signature John McClane role. Willis showed he had plenty left in the tank with Live Free Or Die Hard, the Len Wiseman-directed 2007 sequel that grossed $383.5 million worldwide.

Updates - Noam Murro exists 'Die Hard 5'

Murro will be busy directing 300 prequel 'Xerxes' (aka 300: Battle Of Artemisia). Rumour John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, Max Payne) could be lined up to helm Die Hard 5.

Possible plot - Die Hard 5 will be set largely in Russia with John McClane accompanied there by his son and the two drawn into a conflict with local forces.

Hmm not sure on this one

It's the John Moore rumour that I find worrying.

The man should be confined to directing traffic.

DH5 set largely in Russia? Can you say tears of the sun and surrogates Bruce?! Jees sounds crap.

It doesn't sound very good with his son in Russia. Die hard is a formula that has to be adhered to.

I have to disagree about Surrogates, actually very subtle in places so not many people caught onto it.
But as for Tears of the Sun... :suicide:

You've seen the screenplay then?

Yes, in fact I wrote it. I wrote it in blood, after I cut myself in a nasty shaving accident and had an epiphany about John McClane fighting Nazis in space, but decided to tone it down a little...

Problem?

Part 1: Man alone in a building
Part 2: Man alone in an airport
Part 3: Man with sidekick in a city
Part 4: Man with sidekick in an entire country

I think any formula they might have stuck to with the first two is loooooong gone. It's now just The Adventures of John McClane, SuperCop.

But I agree that setting it in Russia does sound a little desperate. What's going to be the excuse for getting him there? McClane doesn't strike me as the type of guy who goes on holiday.

:)

not true, he went to LA in the first movie..... ;)

NB: the plot for dh5 does sound a bit naff!:thumbsdow

McLane was living and working in NY while his wife Holly and the kids were residing in LA. This separation was due to marital problems. Personally, I got the impression that John was visiting her and the kids over the Christmas period rather than, what most would depict, a proper 'Holiday'. (sight seeing, tours, sun, sea, sand etc etc...) :)

splitting hairs a little, it was a holiday period and he left his home... thus, a holiday..... i appreciate we are having a dumb arguement :D

I think the one man army confined in a small place isn't what makes die hard. It's the fact that he's just an everyday cop who happens to find himself in a situation, and he has to rely on his initiative and think on his feet. This is what makes him a great heroic character. DH3 is still in keeping with this formula but DH4 doesn't which is why its the weakest of the lot. In DH4 he can walk away pretty much whenever he wants, he gets far too much help along the way and needs a computer nerd to explain everything to him.

Following directors are reportedly on the short-list;

- Joe Cornish (Attack the Block)
- Justin Lin (Fast Five)
- Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive)
- John Moore (Max Payne)

By 'Up the tone' i really hope he means swearing & blood & not just explosions.:D

I have to agree on this, even though the 4 die hard movies were awesome, Bruce Willis should just be grateful for the makers of this movie and do it for free.. kidding! :D
