    Hi,

I've heard people saying pens have been corrupted but have never suffered it before until tonight. My 4gb kingston datatraveler (white and purple) is now full of garbage and unreadable files and i have given up on getting anything off but am also unable to format it.

Any format/delete command returns a read only error but i cannot find a switch anywhere on the device, has anyone got an idea how to solve this.

    Thanks in advance

Does/did your flash drive have U3 Launchpad on it?
If so have a look Here for details on how to remove U3 (which in effect formats the drive) which may get the drive working again (maybe even if U3 isn't on it).

    Good luck,
    Mark.

    hi,

no u3 on it but i will check the link out, i think it might have been used on a mac and pulled out before ejecting which some people reckon is a major issue on a mac.

    thanks
