This is so simplistic. It took MS and Sony years before they refined the manufacturing to make a profit on hardware sales. And features were increasingly added to make each console truly multi-entertainment devices. It makes no commercial sense therefore to dump expensive investments for the sake of keeping up with PC gaming when frankly the justification and demand was not there. Graphics are not everything. When developers reached the wall they had to concentrate instead on the experience. Some of the very best games of this gen have come out post-2010 because of it, they just happened to be good to look at as well being in the final quarter. Sure better specs in next gen consoles will be nice to smooth out the compromises but the distinction of seeking that graphics nirvana is increasingly blurred and smaller.
