I'd be fascinated to read a review comparing the two (as I'm sure would a lot of others)

You seem to be the man in an ideal position to write one :smashin:

Gemini II and the XLS200 are both very good budget subs, but which one is best?
There's only one way to find out!

first results after a few days testing and comparing both the Gemini II and
    xls200 mkII
the xls200 mkII is better with movies, it goes a little deeper
the Gemini is better with music, it is much easier to set up the dual crossover
which is set to 42 hz using a pair Wharfedale Evo 2-10 and the high level
    cable
for small rooms the gemini will do fine
this are only first impressions after a few days using the Gemini II

    Thanks.

My room is about 5mx3.5m. Is that classed as a small room?

I have a gemini in a 7m x3.5m room (approx) and it does a stunning job. I tried it out with a standout moment onthe transformers hd-dvd (weapons guy shoots himself/forward roll over screaming girl in city near end), and the massive LFE sweep totally pressurises my room.

This is with the normal DD/DTS soundtrack and also with the HD soundtrack from my XE-1.

I couldn't believe it, and even my brother couldn't stop laughing and wanting to hear it again and again

The problem I have is that I have a dining room next to the living room (seperated by a large alcove). Would this effect the type of sub I would need?

For most of the time I dont want earth shattering bass but it would be nice when gaming etc.

    Thanks

I to am stuck between these 2 subs. There is something about the driver on the xls 200 that makes me think it is the more capable sub when pushed.

SOB: Do you mean that the dining room leads off the living room so you are in effect going to need to "fill" both rooms with LFE?

Yeah they are next to each other, ie they are not seperated by doors etc.

I dont want to fill the dining room with LFE but I am concerned that the extra space will take away some of the impact of the sub.

Maybe it wont but I presume the extra air space (the dinning room) would have some effect.

    Thanks

On the Gemini II is it best to set the lo frequency to LFE, 120, or lower?

I am using it with 5x KEF Eggs. I think the Eggs reach something like 80hz???

Post up he specs of your Eggs, as I would be very surprised if they reached 80hz at a decent level.

Get yourself an SPL meter and get configuring those levels

The thing that worries me is that I dont want to spend the extra £100 for the XLS200 just to find out that the neighbours complain and I have to turn it down, in which case maybe just getting the Gemini would be better?

I dont need it to shake the walls all the time but would like the 'kick' when an explosion happens etc when watching a movie or playing a game but in regular viewing just want it to add to the experience.

I ordered one to use in my living room set-up, it's partnered with an Onkyo 606, Monitor Audio Radius 45s and 180 centre. Went through the usual experience, i.e. told it would be 7-10 days but took 4 weeks:D. It finally arrived today and like everyone else I gotta say it was worth the wait. I've only tested it with the pre-credits chase in Quantum of Solace and the tunnel chase sequence from I Robot but it blows my previous Tannoy sub out of the water in terms of depth. Happy days !!!.
