Chinese had a steelbook with extended but it was locked region a. I got it and swapped UK EE discs in it.
long out of print though and quite expensive to source i believe.

I see, I have a region free player so that wouldn't be an issue but Avatar is not a title I'm willing to shell out on though. So what other versions are there ?

The extended version on eg Amazon (amaray). There's the UK standard steelbook but not extended and think that's oop now as well.
edit ... you can pick it up on amazon from sellers new approximately £25 delivered

Don't forget the exclusive Panasonic 3D deal ends this month so there's bound to be some renewed interest in it as the big marketing machines go into action to promote it bring on general sale. I can see a wave of all new editions coming both 2D & 3D.

I've just bought the 2D steelbook in the classifieds on here then when the 3D release comes out the discs will be finding their way into the steelbook!
