    It also says that its Freeview Playback approved, if so it would be the world's cheapest PVR. I'm sure they have made a mistake.

    Im sorry, Im a bit new to this, what is PVR?
    Is it unlikely that it is a 1080i PVR then?

    Don't think it records m8 so wouldn't be a PVR.

    You will not get 1080i out of a Scart socket, HDMI/DVI yes.

    Yeah that's what I though, but it does not mention HDMI/DVI so i doubt this is possible.

    Just goes to show how much companies think they can rip us off these days...

    PVR = Personel video recorder

    If it has HDMI then it will upscale the picture but no mention of HDMI. I always thought that most LCD or Plasmas upscaled the picture if it was HD ready and has a digital tuner built in, may be worth looking into because it would probably do a better job than a cheap freeview box anyways.

    That was might point, the description is clearly for an upscaling PVR, so you would need to contact Argos for the correct spec.

    It won't be intentional , just someone at Argos doing a copy & paste of anonther item description and getting it wrong.

    Not most, all do. Without scaling the picture would either be too small or too big depending on the signal you send it. For example a HR Ready display with 1320 x 768 screen pixels sent a 720 x 576 SD signal will have to invent extra pixels (upscale) to get 1320 x 768 pixels. The same TV sent a 1920 x 1080 HD signal will have to remove pixels (downscale) to 1320 x 768 pixels. HDMI scalers on freeview boxes are largely a gimmick as all but the cheapest TV's will have much better and more expensive scalers than you will get on a Freeview PVR (including the Topfield 5810 and Humax 9300).

    It says Freeview Playback approved. Freeview Playback (now called Freeview+) is the promotional name for PVRs which meet the Freeview specification. As I and others have said, someone has copy/pasted the description for a Freeview PVR instead of the correct description. The same innacurate description is used for several of the boxes.
