Love it, glad they did a BD Garfield sculpt (even if it's still not fully revealed)
Looks cheap and awful
Except it's expensive and awful.
Ordered, I still think it looks good. While I prefer the comic book look of the Raimi Spider-Man suit it looked to bulky for me and I prefer the overall more spindly look of this figure.
That could be why I'm not that keen on this as i definetly prefer the more cloth look, so daft question, how does it compare to the look of the suit in the film?
Fixed that for you
£134.99 plus delivery at OSB
Will wait for final in-hand pics, as the suit needs a helluva lot of tweeks.
The lenses sure as hell aren't yellow in the movie and yes, I've seen it. Suit also looks too bright.
They are a gold honeycomb pattern over black in the movie.
They're clearly reflective and change according to the lighting.
Yep, Gold reflective honeycomb
So about £150 all in??
This is getting silly now...he's such a basic figure & they still want this much??
I mean £45 more will get you the DX 2.0 Joker delivered to your door & he comes with a **** load more accessories, looks a hundred times better & is a DX.
If this is Hot Toys new pricing policy you can count me out...Ill get TDKR Batman & then I'm finished, just can't justify it anymore.
Sideshow statues are similar prices (the new Bowen Hulk pieces are only $240 & Savage She Hulk is only $200 for example) & look at those these days, I'd sooner have them now then Hot Toys figures...the new DC PF's are simply stunning (Poison Ivy & Batman both looking immense) so that's where my focus is going now.
Nope still not sold on it...looks better but just not as good as the previous one's
I'd prefer prices not to go up too, but unfortunately don't have the space to collect PFs.
You may want to take a look at the TDKR Hot Toys "Bat" thread, I've posted teaser pics of the new Batman
I know it's just the way things go & Hot Toys are getting too big for themselves now so what were limited figures suddenly aren't & are beginning to cost more than they are worth in my eye's so I'm pretty much spent.
I don't have the room yet either but I'll buy them & store them until I move (hopefully later this year) & can get them on display...plus these are investments at the end of the day...have you seen the prices some of them go for now?? (I'm looking at you Darth Talon)
Whereas HT's used to be they just keep churning them out now & have lost the investment edge that the early figures had.
Yeah did see the teaser you posted.
Will snap one of him up but honestly after that I'm done...better spending the money elsewhere now.
Even PFs are not as limited now though. I agree that some will be an investment, but a lot are unlikely to go up massively in value.
I was glad I actually made a profit on my Gambit PF, but made next to nothing on the Silver Surfer Comiquette so it definitely depends on the character.
I don't worry so much about whether they are limited, or whether I will make any money on them, I just buy the figures of characters I like, and enjoy them until I get bored (or a new version comes out) and then sell them to help with the cost of something else.
I know tell me about it...some people have gone mental on Sideshow Freaks over the edition size of the Joker PF (750 for Ex & around 1000 for the Reg)
Doesn't bother me though as like you I'm just buying them because I like the character & in this case the line itself (DC only for me) not interested in flipping them for profit & will only sell if I really have too...just nice to know that with these there is much more chance of money being there should I ever need it.
Spiderman-Diary of a Wimpy Gimp
Personally I dont get the bitching about Hot Toys pricing, maybe I got screwed over last year but I got TFA Captain America from Lee at collectiblesdirect for £169.99, this year though he has the Avengers version up for £154.99 so it appears to me at least that prices when you buy from the UK dealers are actually doing down :/
Dude 3 years ago I was getting Hottoys with a lot more extras for around 85-100 quid.
We seem to be paying a lot more these days and getting a lot less. QC has gotten worse as mass-production has increase. You would expect the price to lower with massproduction.
Basically as they have got more popular as with everything they get complacement...keep jacking the price up, drop the quality, amount of extras & generally start taking the micky.
The only figures these days I think are worth the money they are asking are the DX figures.
They actually seem to care about the DX's & you can see where the money is spent.
I mean the '89 Batman figures, Pirates Jack, Luke Skywalker & up the coming 2.0 Joker are testament to their treatment of the DX line...amazing sculpts, fantastic accessories & a feel of real quality.
I am standing my ground on this while the charge almost the same price for the MMS series as they do for the DX line's they can forget about getting anymore of my money...after Dark Knight Rises Batman that was teased earlier everything I would budget for them will be going firmly in the pockets of Sideshow or Bowen for statues.
I might be sounding harsh & I don't really mean to sound like that I still enjoy looking at them & if a Thanos appears from the next Avengers film I may find it hard to resist (after the Joker he's my bestest villain ever) but I really am done with them...I will however look forward to oggling everybody else's pics
Isn't part of the problem the price of oil though? I would guess that HT costs have gone up over the last three years too
Not sure Oil would make a difference...although with the leaking abs on the early rubber suit Batman figures you could be right...the price of oil might have meant they needed to increase the price so they can put more of it in to leak lol
I appreciate that prices increase but I don't think prices should be as high for figures that don't come with the same quality as DX branded figures.
not just Hot Toys that have shot up in price in the same time.... sideshow and bowen have risen quite a bit in the last 3 years or so too, most of my premium formats where around the £200 mark and now they're getting close to £300 so a similar 30% increase as Hot Toys figures
its hard to stop getting them though...... have always prefered statues and almost got away from 1/6 scale figures around 3 or 4 years ago and didn't buy any for just over a year but they are a good size for displaying more of so got dragged back in when a few started catching my eye
back on topic
Just back from watching the film. Really liked it.
Thought he made a far better Parker than Tobey.
My interest in this figure has slightly gone up from a no to maybe wait till in-hand pics
We're off to see the film tomorrow, really looking forward it
I thought the film was excellent and like you, i have gone from a ''no'' to '' i will have one''. The early pics aren't the best but as HT often do, they may make tweaks here and there to get it looking the way punters expect it to look.
The acting was just 200 times better than the Raimi version.
What a star Andrew Garfield is going to become.
Emma Stone was on point
