Having recently sold up and purchased a new property (3 bed bungalow) with a great location but needing a total update. We set about a partial re-design, new extension and update incorporating a few av orientated features. The plan would be to convert two bedrooms into a fairly large living room, have a long , open hallway to enable access from the front of the building to the now, rear of house living area and an extension added to the side. As we actually have to live in the property whilst renovating, we will do the work in two phases, phase 1 will be the new living room, hall and extension, on completion, we will occupy this part and begin the remainder of the house.

    Hi acrantophis.

Keep the pics coming, and looking forward to updates :smashin:

Do you know the angle/pitch of the roof? Are you tiling it?

I am looking at a similar pitch roof and not sure if it will be ok tiled.

    Thx.

Hi Rick, as the origional part of the house has a low 9 degree pitch, we had to match it for sake of appearance, we were looking at DECRA tiles, but we are possibly on the limit or below it so far as angle is concerned . So for the time being, we matched the origional roof and had it felted, we will look at the two roofs together at a later date with a view to the final finish.

Meanwhile the new living room has to be prepped and wired, we are going 7.1 but not sure at this point if the window placement will interfere overmuch as the side speakers will be closer to the rear speakers than we`d like but the wiring is in and we`ll just have to see.

As we will be using sonos and various ipads, ect, We thought to check wireless coverage in the new build, and we didnt have enough ! So after going around with a netbook and doing a broadband speedtest in various areas, we purchased a wireless extender, the optimum position was high up in the new hallway, so we were able to fit an extra single socket to power the extender high up at ceiling level. Now, from our incoming 10mb connection, we have 7mb out in the garden.

    Hi acrantophis,

Yeah, might have looked a bit strange, you can work with differnt heights but different pitches can look a bit odd sometimes.

Thanks, the Decra tiles look interesting and only need a 10 degree pitch which is good. Your project is looking REALLY good, and loving the updates. Look forward to more pics.

    Good luck. :smashin:

Thats about all for now as the living room is now full of kitchen cabinets and won`t progress any further until the kitchen is finished. I`ll update after this.

Blok arrived today, beautiful piece of furniture, cant recommend highly enough. It was more expensive than many other offerings and had to justify it to myself a few times, but in the flesh , its worth every penny, so much more substantial and better made than possibly any other furniture I've ever seen and the service exemplary , not to mention supporting a British company.

The good stuff starts to happen after spending most of the day mounting speakers and setting up the amp and projector.
