BenQ W6000 Full HD DLP Projector Review

Reviewed by Phil Hinton
So, it’s a very mixed bag performance in the end for the BenQ. That’s not to say that this projector doesn’t have any merits in image quality and of course brightness. Rather it struggles to offer an image that has the type of subtle colour tones and black depth that the very best in its class manage to produce.

Phil,
Great Review! Fair and Accurate. As a DLP Fan I bought and demo'd the W6000 (twice!). While the brightness was a nice attribute, I found there were too many negatives relative to the competition. For me, those where the unit noise, image noise, and high black level.

I ended up picking between the Panasonic AE4000 and the Sony HW-15. I loved the Sony and the Panasonic, so it was a hard decision, but I stayed with the AE4000 due to owning a 2.35 screen.

Thanks again for fair and balanced reviews that I have happy used in helping me evaluate projectors.

Thank you and a question about the music used in the video review

Hello Mr Hinton,

Thank you for this very balanced review which gives a good idea of the quality and the flaws of this projector (whereas others give only the qualities...).
Could you tell me the name of the nice newage music heard during the video review ?
Thanks

Isa

Phil, thank you for another informative review!

I continue to search for a replacement for my InFocus SP-7210 and each new contender seems to have a fatal flaw.

Of course I make it more challenging by wanting to fill a large screen (currently using an Elite 1.8 gain 135" screen, but would like to move to Elite's 150" Power Gain screen). My HT is completely light controlled, but that does not completely remove the challenge.

I also complicate things by wanting to keep the price under $5k in Colonial Currency.

Thanks again Phil.... I will keep reading........
