The manufacturer's information about this product

For several years, Teufel’s THX speaker systems have set the standard for sound in home cinemas of the absolutely highest quality. Designed to meet the strict specifications of the most demanding quality standard worldwide for sound reproduction, THX Ultra 2, the Theater 8 system established itself with good reason as the reference system for numerous home cinema magazines, an extremely sonorous partner for a number of demanding Teufel customers and an unerring monitor speaker set at many sound studios and television stations. With this long and successful tradition in mind, the engineers at Teufel have developed successors to these proven classics over the past few years. The latest chassis technologies, state-of-the-art acoustic science, the most advanced electronic components and the most modern options in housing construction led to the evolution of the brand-new System 9 THX Ultra 2.

THX Systeme These new technologies have also shaped the high-tech appearance of the System 9 THX Ultra 2.

A mixture of brushed aluminium, newly developed flat diaphragm chassis and black high-gloss housing surfaces guarantees a completely new futuristic design underscoring the high sound quality and technical requirements.

The most striking features are the now clearly visible flat diaphragm midrange drivers and cloth dome tweeters in the middle of the M 950 FCR front speakers.

The trio stands in the classic D’Appolito arrangement over one another and ensures an extremely spatial and optimally directional reproduction of all middle and high frequency signals. The centrally mounted, elegant aluminium grilles are flush with the black fabric covering that conceals the two 165 mm bass midrange drivers integrated on the left and right sides.

These speakers are also a completely new development: Instead of conventionally shaped cones, flat cones were used. Since these cones are surrounded by inversely formed, backward arcing sculpture lines, the M 950 FCR offers perfect radiating characteristics throughout the entire frequency range, without sound corruption and distorting edges, angles or protuberances.

THX Systeme Teufel is also entering new territory with the striking angled form of the M 950 D dipole effect speaker.

Thanks to their trapezoidal formatting, as viewed from above, the rear effect speakers can now be aesthetically integrated much better into the living room, without weakening the vital dipole arrangement with the opposite emitting baffles. It is essential for the dipole technique’s simulation of the cinematic surround sound that the home cinema audience only hears sound reflected from walls, ceilings and floors, and not any direct sound.

THX Systeme The most impressive component of the System 9 is the M 9500 SW subwoofer, which is responsible for the bass foundation. Like its predecessor, this new subwoofer works with two 300 mm bass drivers and a 1200 watt power amplifier. In terms of form, the M 9500 SW also breaks new ground and is presented in a slim high design. This allows both of the woofer chassis to no longer be mounted at opposing angles, but rather directly across from each other, which allows the subwoofer to reach a height of 95 centimetres.

The System 9 THX Ultra is a concept that combines the most elegant materials and unsurpassed experience in the construction of home cinema speakers, once more setting a higher standard in the surround sound market.

This set is the best THX speaker system of all time – because it enables the sort of impressive cinema experience that has long been impossible in the home living room.
