Pioneer KRP-500A
Manufacturer's Statement
Pioneer announces its enhanced KURO plasma TVs with separate media receiver
- the 50-inch KRP-500A and 60-inch KRP-600A - together with its 50-inch KRP-500M
and 60-inch KRP-600M monitors. All new models are 'HD ready 1080p' and feature
the exceptional black levels that have become synonymous with the KURO brand.
With a thin depth of 64 mm the screens look more sleek and elegant than ever,
be it wall-mounted or on a stand. Their glossy black KURO-style design contributes
handsomely to any interior decor.
The new 64 mm TV models with separate media receiver have inherited the inner
workings and features of the recently launched one-body Full HD KURO plasma
TVs - delivering uncompromised quality, finely-tuned performance and intelligent
design. Pioneer's KURO monitor range follows in these footsteps and offers excellence
to videophiles and may be well suited to professional custom installations where
nothing but the best plasma screen is demanded. Incomparable black levels and
extreme contrast make both ranges prime candidates for use in a private home
theatre, a living room or a professional setting.
Black like never before
Artists start with a white canvas; televisions start with black. The deeper
the black, the finer the detail, the greater the contrast and the more colours
the television has to paint with. All of Pioneer's 2008 KURO models display
groundbreaking black levels and reproduce the most vivid colours, resulting
in an unparalleled level of contrast. Richer, more realistic colours create
an enhanced experience of entertainment. Images possess a truly captivating
clarity and amazing definition, while moving pictures become more vibrant and
powerful.
Matchless intelligence
The KURO can recognise light, can tell day from night and analyse on-screen
content in real time. Both monitors and plasmas with separate media receiver
feature an AV Optimum Mode with optical light sensor for automated adjustment
of picture settings according to the lighting conditions in the room and the
actual image on the screen, resulting in the best viewing experience. In addition,
the audio is harmonised with the programme being watched. The plasmas come with
an extra colour sensor that measures the colour characteristics of ambient light
to provide the optimum picture in relation to the colour temperature of the
room's ambient lighting conditions.

Clean integration
The KRP-500A and KRP-600A not only feature an integrated analogue tuner, but
also a digital terrestrial (DVB-T) tuner and a digital satellite (DVB-S/DVB-S2)
tuner. Both KURO models are compliant with the EICTA "HD TV 1080p"
minimum requirements, support MPEG-4 high definition decoding (*) and include
two integrated common interface slots.
The KRP-500A and KRP-600A are Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certified
and as a result can simply be integrated into a home or local area network and
play content from one or more connected media servers. This media content is
directly available trough the plasma's Home Media Gallery function, which is
nicely integrated in a new, modern-looking Graphical User Interface (GUI). This
intuitive and self-explaining interface incorporates a number of clear-cut options.
The Favourites list combines the user's most-loved channels from any of the
integrated TV tuners, and even allows adding external inputs. The Tools menu
provides, for the source active at that moment, one-button access to frequently
used functions.
Smart design
With their minimalist, high-gloss black bezel, KURO plasmas are very sleek in
appearance. The sophisticated design enhances viewing comfort and allows users
to concentrate on the content. The KRP-500A and the KRP-600A come with an equally
attractive and whisper-quiet media receiver, which connects to the screen through
just one elegant cable, allowing easy connectivity and flexible cable management.
By eliminating multiple cords running out of the back of the plasma, these models
feature a clean look and are ideally suited for wall-mounting.
Both the separate media receiver and monitor range are complemented by an aluminium
preset remote that is well laid out and easy to use. In addition to having an
intuitive design, the most important keys of the remote illuminate for increased
visibility in darkened rooms. On top of that, the remote of the KRP-500M and
KRP-600M monitors incorporates a learning function for programming from other
remotes.

Up-to-date connectivity
All 64 mm models offer a wide array of options when it comes to connectivity.
The separate media receiver models boast 4 HDMI inputs that enable a quick and
convenient connection to a broad range of source devices. An integrated KURO
LINK function enables the user to operate compatible connected devices through
the plasmas' newly styled remote control.
The monitors incorporate a variety of additional features and functions that
extend their versatility. IP control allows operation via a PC or other controller
through a network, while the Web server function even enables user access and
control via a remote PC web browser.
