Yamaha to Launch 15 New Products at IFA 2014
MSRP: £299.95
Yamaha already have a very strong line-up of AV receivers, with the Dolby Atmos enabled RX-A3040 and RX-A2040 about to hit the streets.
However the Japanese giant is one of the largest manufacturers in the world, with products ranging from AV to HiFi and even pianos and motorcycles. So with IFA 2014 fast approaching, Yamaha have just announced a raft of new AV and HiFi products that they plan to launch in Berlin at the start of September. The company will be releasing a number of new wireless and portable speakers, along their latest two-channel HIFi and streaming audio products. There are also earphones and desktop audio products, along with a new flagship subwoofer. Finally there will be new soundbars and other TV peripherals to join the growing soundbar market that Yamaha helped create.

Interior Audio

First off, Yamaha are planning to expand their range of desktop audio products with new models to compliment the existing LSX-700. This interesting product built LEDs into a speaker to create a unique combination of light and sound. This year Yamaha will add the LXS-70 portable speaker, the LSX-170 table speaker and the new Restio speaker with Bluetooth and DAB built-in. Yamaha are calling this new category Interior Audio and the products that comprise this range are designed to offer high end audio but also add a sense of class to your home.
The Relit range of speakers will offer a combination of light and sound thanks to built-in LEDs.
Within the Interior Audio category, the LSX-700, LSX-170 and LSX-70 all form the part of a family called Relit. These products will have one thing in common, the combination of sound and light. Each speaker has a series of LED lights that can be controlled via a free app, as well as a built-in Bluetooth speaker for great sound quality. These products are designed to appear stylish but will also be subtle enough to fit into any living environment. These products will all be available in the winter with the LSX-170 priced at around £359.95, the LSX-70 at around £459.95 and the Restio speaker at just under £599.95.

HiFi Products

Whilst we may often associate Yamaha with AV products, the manufacturer is also a serious player in the world of HiFi, which is undergoing something of a revival at the moment. The new A-S301 integrated amplifier, A-S501 receiver and A-S701 receiver are all making their first debut at IFA 2014, replacing the A-S300, A-S500 and A-S700 respectively. A-S stands for Authenic and Supreme and it’s been around four years since the first A-S500 UK tuning project so Yamaha are very excited to be sound tuning for a 2-channel HiFi amplifier again.
The latest A-S integrated amplifiers and receivers are the result of an extensive 2-channel tuning project.
Chris Wray, Product Specialist for Yamaha on the tuning project of the A-S501 said “It was a tough few months of tuning, but working directly with our engineers in Japan is a treat as these guys know their stuff inside and out. We spent hours listening and tweaking the sound, sometimes the result would be positive, sometimes we’d move backwards… but eventually we hit a point where everything just gelled together. It’s that quality Yamaha HiFi sound but with a modern direction, that’s what’s in the A-S501 and we’re very proud of it.”

The new HiFi products will be released in late autumn and the AS301 is tentatively priced at £299.95, the AS501 at £359.95 and the AS701 at £559.95.

Streaming HiFi

Part of the reason for the resurgence in HiFi is the growing popularity in streaming audio. So along with the launch of new 2-channel integrated amplifiers, Yamaha will also be releasing some new products designed to integrate into an existing HiFi setup or even create a new one. The new R-N301 is a modern take on a 2-channel integrated amplifier with all the features you’d expect like A+B speaker configuration, quality internal design and a built-in phono stage; however you’ll get a whole lot more for your money with all the extra networking features like Spotify, DLNA streaming and app control.
Reflecting modern times, Yamaha also have a new range of streaming products on offer.
In addition to a new integrated amplifier with streaming capabilities, Yamaha are also launching the CD-N301, which is their new entry level CD player. The N301 has a re-designed internal layout and networking features on board. As with the R-N301, you get all the features and benefits of an entry level CD player but with the extra functionality that network integration can bring. The two streaming products will be released in late autumn and the R-N301 is tentatively priced at £259.95, whilst the CD-N301 is priced at £359.95.

New Soundbar and TV Peripherals

Yamaha are one of the pioneers when it comes to soundbars, a fact that explains why their's are so well designed and thought out. Needless to say the manufacturer has already announced a number of new soundbars this year, including the YSP-2500. In addition Yamaha have also announced the SRT-1000 which is their first entry into the burgeoning soundbase section of the TV peripheral market.
It's no surprise that the kings of the soundbar will have a new model at IFA.
At IFA Yamaha will be adding to their sound bar line-up with the YAS-203, which replaces the YAS-201. The New YAS-203 features Bluetooth on board, a wireless subwoofer, app control and a fresh new design. It can also learn from your TV remote, has IR pass through on board and is ready to go out of the box with the included optical cable. The YAS-203 will be launched in late autumn and is tentatively priced at £399.95.

Earphones and Desktop Audio

Yamaha don't just make receivers, amplifiers, CD players and soundbars, they have also produced a number of great headphones in the past. Given the explosion in earphone sales over the last few years, it should come as no surprise to discover and we will be displaying a new range at IFA 2014. This new range are designed to be easy to use and have the authentic Yamaha natural sound quality built in as standard. The EPH-W models will also feature a Bluetooth connection for easy use with your smartphone. The EPH-W22 entry level earphones will cost £39.95, the EPH-W32 mid-range earphones are priced around £59.95 and the EPH-WS01 sport style earphones will set you back £39.95; all three will be released in late autumn.
Given the explosion in the earphone market, Yamaha have unsurprisingly announced a range of their own.
There will also be two types of premium earphones released in the winter, the EPH-M100 which is tentatively priced at £79.95 and the EPH-M200 which you should be able to pick up for around £99.95. Desktop products are also proving very popular these days and to reflect this, the new TSX-15D Clock Radio will be on display as well at IFA. This is part of their desktop audio category and features Bluetooth APT-X connectivity as well as a DAB radio built in. They will also be showing their NXB-150 2.1-channel Bluetooth Speakers as part of the show. The two desktop products will be released in the winter, with the NXB-150 tentatively priced at £249.95 and the TSX-15D priced at £119.95.

New Flagship Subwoofer

For a very long time, Yamaha has been producing high quality subwoofers with a clean and rich bass sound in mind. To add to the range, they will be producing the new NS-SW1000 flagship level subwoofer. This mammoth of a sub features a 30cm driver, 1000W of power and the new Twisted Flare Port, a unique design feature to Yamaha. This new port twists air out in a clean and smooth way to avoid extra noise from the sub, giving you a bigger and cleaner sound. It’s also designed as a front firing sub for tighter bass and weighs a whopping 40kg, so don't try moving it yourself. The NS-SW1000 will be released in late autumn and is tentatively priced at £1,399.95.
The new flagship NS-SW1000 is a beast of a subwoofer!
So there you have it, a wide range of products to remind us that Yamaha is more than just AV receivers and hopefully we'll get a closer look when we report from IFA 2014 in a couple of week's time. What do you think, anything of interest?
