Following its launch in Japan on February 22, the PlayStation 4 has sold through 6 million units, worldwide, according to a statement from Sony.
The Japanese launch has, expectedly, been as successful as that in other territories, seeing the console shift 370,000 units in just 8 days.
PS4 software sales also remain strong with more than 13.7 million units sold through stores and via downloads from the PlayStation Store as of March 2.

Sony also says that over half of the PS4’s user base are signed up to PlayStation Plus – and you’d be crazy not to – giving them access to cloud game saves and the "Instant Game Collection," which allows you to play full games, at no extra cost, provided the subscription is maintained.

The PlayStation App, for iOS and Android, has been installed over 3.6 million times and more than 100 million shares have been captured via the "SHARE" button on the DS4 . Sony also revealed that more than 3.6 million gameplay broadcasts have been streamed from PS4 systems via the video streaming platforms, Twitch and Ustream. The broadcasts generated more than 56 million spectate sessions.

The PS4 system is currently available in 57 countries worldwide.
