Skype app for Xbox One gets major update
The Skype app for Xbox One is rolling out a major update, starting today.
The latest version will fix a number of bugs and bring with it several features, moving it in to line with the various mobile device apps which received an upgrade a few weeks ago.

It’s a gradual roll-out so you may not see it right straightaway but when you do, you should find several enhancements that will improve the experience.

Primarily the focus has been on improving conversations, particularly in keeping those on your Xbox One synced with your Mobile or PC apps. Skype says it has reduced the number of missed messages “to make your chat experience even better.”
Captain America emoticons also added. Hmm.

The Xbox One app will also now be able to receive push notifications, so you’ll be alerted when a new message is received. Not only that but the app will also will be able to maintain a longer chat history, so instead of just keeping the last 7 days-worth, it can store your most recent 1,000 conversations. That’s presuming you don’t have more than 1,000 Skype convos a week, of course.

The contact filtering feature has also been spruced up and will now let you see who is online, from the top, instead of having to scroll down your entire list of contacts to find out.

There are also tutorials added to give you a guide on making video calls and how best to set yourself up for chat in the living room.
New emoticons have also been added, based on characters from Captain America.

Skype is confident it has now sorted out the most pressing niggles but promises future improvements down the line.

“In the past few months, we’ve been listening to your feedback and working hard to fix some of the issues our users have been experiencing. So keep telling us what you’re finding, and we’ll keep improving the experience to make Skype for Xbox One the best it can be.”

What else would you like to see added to integrate it better with the Xbox One experience?
