If you were deliberating whether to join the next gen of audio surround sound but were unsure about doing so, Onkyo might just have a deal which pushes you over the edge.
Just weeks after announcing their range of Dolby Atmos-enabled AVRs, they have confirmed that any customer buying a new TX-NR636, TX-NR737 or TX-NR838 Network A/V Receiver (between 1st August 2014 and 30th September 2014, from participating dealers) will get a Dolby Atmos-enabled SKH-410 speaker system from Onkyo completely free of charge. Not bad, eh?
For the uninitiated, Dolby Atmos goes beyond conventional surround sound by having audio that comes from all directions, including overhead, and moves dynamically around the listener in multi-dimensional space.

Of course you’ll need a new Dolby Atmos-enabled A/V Receiver and speaker set-up to do so. Purpose-designed Atmos speaker systems are on the way but in the meantime Onkyo has taken the lead by creating an add-on, proprietary Atmos speaker system, the SKH-410. This can be used to augment and easily upgrade existing conventional home theatre speaker systems for Dolby Atmos, without the need for much extra space.
Anyone buying the above named products during the qualifying dates will receive a mail-in voucher for a new SKH-410 Atmos Speaker System (consumers who have bought a qualifying receiver between 1st August and 5th August should contact their supplying dealer to obtain their vouchers). The free speakers will be sent out when they become available which is currently planned for October 2014.
Does this sway you more toward Atmos and/or Onkyo?
