New TV series Babylon starts on Channel 4 this February
It was announced today that Jon S. Baird, director of Filth, the film adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s novel of the same name, will team-up with Danny Boyle on the new TV Comedy Drama “Babylon”.
Following the success of Filth, which is released on Blu-ray & DVD on Monday Feb 10th, Baird has confirmed he will direct the first three episodes of Babylon, the pilot for which was directed by Boyle and will air on Channel 4 on Sunday the 9th of February.

One of Britain’s best filmmakers and something of a national treasure after the London Olympics opening ceremony, Danny Boyle also directed the 1996 film adaptation of another of Irvine Welsh’s novels – Trainspotting.

Says Baird of the opportunity: “I'm thrilled to be working with Danny and the entire team behind Babylon. It's obviously a fantastic opportunity and I feel honoured to have such an incredibly experienced and talented mentor".

Our review of the Blu-ray release of Filth will be going up soon but we saw it at the cinema and it's a very black but very funny comedy with a towering central performance from James McAvoy. We also saw the trailer for Danny Boyle's pilot for Babylon, it looked very interesting and star James Nesbitt is always watchable.
