MWC 2014: Huawei Announce World's Slimmest 7-inch Tablet

TalkBand B1 - first wearable device - also launched in Barcelona

Huawei has unveiled two new additions to its MediaPad range of devices and its first wearable device at the MWC 2014.
They are claiming the MediaPad X1 is now the world’s slimmest 7-inch LTE-enabled tablet whilst the TalkBand B1 is termed a hybrid ‘talk and track’ companion. The MediaPad M1, meanwhile, is an 8-inch tablet with the focus on entertainment .

The MediaPad X1 combines the functionality of a smartphone and tablet in a full aluminum alloy unibody, weighs just 239g and is a wafer-thin 7.18mm. It still manages to carry a 7-inch 1200 x 1920 display so has around an 80% screen-to-body ratio.

It’s powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor and will come out of the blocks running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It also features a 5000 mAh battery providing a claimes 21 days of standby time and over five full days of continuous use and reverse charging.

The MediaPad X1 also features a tasty 13MP Sony Exmor R BSI rear-facing camera and panoramic shooting. The 5MP front-facing camera features Huawei’s proprietary self-focus tips, preview screen, 10-level auto-facial enhancement and voice-activated hands-free capture. In other words, it’s good for selfies.

The TalkBand B1 features wireless calling with a Bluetooth 4.1 earpiece, up to seven hours of calls and 1.4-inch flexible OLED display. It supports Android 2.3+ and iOS 5.0+ compatible devices, and also syncs via NFC.

The TalkBand also wirelessly tracks activity time and progress, including steps taken, miles covered and calories burned. It also records sleep duration and quality.

The HUAWEI MediaPad M1 features an 8-inch 800 x 1280 HD IPS multi-touch capacitive screen with and dual front-facing speakers and microphones. It supports 8 hours of video playing on a single charge and is also very slim at just 7.9mm. There’s a 1MP front-facing and 5MP rear-facing auto-focus cameras too.

We expect releases for the MediaPad X1 and TalkBand in March 2014 with the MediaPad M1 to follow soon.
